Dr Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, has hit headlines in recent years for his ongoing legal battle with Kesha; who alleged physical and emotional abuse – to which he responded with accusations of breach of contract and defamation.
There have also been numerous rumours about several more of his past collaborators having bad relations with him.
Clarkson – now back with new music – worked with him on the international 2009 chart-topper My Life Would Suck Without You – but only, she said, because her record label threatened not to release her album unless she did.
She re-wrote several lyrics, but refused to accept a credit – telling radio station Z100: “I was making a point to the people working with me, going, ‘This is how much I didn’t want to do this. I don’t care about the money’.
“I don’t care about, oh, ‘You’re going to be the most famous person ever if you do this.’ That’s not what holds weight in my life.”

She explained: “There’s a lot of times in my career where you don’t see my name on the song and that’s because sometimes I don’t write them. A lot of times I do change the song in a way that probably you should ask for credit, but I don’t because the song was already great – I just made it more me.
“I think a lot of artists steal credit a lot from writers, which I think is super crappy ’cause that’s their livelihood. [But] if I deserve it, I usually ask. And I did deserve it on that song just ’cause I changed it a bit.”
She added: ”Basically, they were gonna sit on my record unless I did what they wanted. I was so frustrated because I literally said, ‘Anyone in the world but this one person. I will work with anyone you want to put in my path.’
“I love people. I think that’s apparent. I think I’m a nice person, that’s apparent. It was just this one thing, and I asked not to work with Dr. Luke just because I had not a good experience with him [previously].
“If an artist like me, I generally love everyone. You have to really be a special kind of… for me not to like you.”
She had previously gone on record as saying that Dr Luke “lied a lot” when they collaborated previously on hits from her multi-platinum opus Breakaway.
Furthermore, an article from blog site Nicki Swift has stacked up evidence of a string of artists having trouble with him.
Demi Lovato is rumoured to have called him “shady” over a dispute that saw one of his songs being taken off her album after she refused to make it a single.
Pink was alleged in a memoir by Butch Walker as feuding with an unnamed producer for giving her a “recycled” song – assumed to be U + Ur Hand, overseen by Luke.
Avril Lavigne is also alleged to have had problems with him on Girlfriend, while Page Six claimed that he had a big falling-out with Katy Perry in 2011.
And Adele, who has never worked with him herself, came out publicly in support of Kesha at the 2016 BRIT Awards.
Clarkson is releasing her new album Meaning of Life on October 27. The single Love So Soft is out now.
