Over 20,000 Cologne fans are thought to be in London for the Europa League clash, despite the visitors only being allocated 2,900 tickets.
The visiting fans marched through central London earlier this afternoon and set off flares on Oxford Street as the atmosphere built before kick-off.
The number of fans around the Emirates stadium has caused the match to be delayed by at least an hour, with Arsenal tweeting the news to their followers.
There are unconfirmed reports that some Cologne fans attempted to storm their way into the stadium, although the majority of supporters appeared to be waiting peacefully.
