‘Sad’: White House MOCKS Hillary Clinton’s new Donald Trump-bashing book

The former Secretary of State this week released her book ‘What Happened’, a tell-all account of her doomed 2016 presidential campaign.

The book pulls few punches in criticising Donald Trump, the man who beat her to the White House and who repeatedly called her “crooked” and encouraged supporters’ chants of “lock her up”.

Throughout the 500 page memoir, Mrs Clinton brands Mr Trump a “fraud” who a ran a “reality TV show” campaign.

She writes: “I sometimes wonder: If you add together his time spent on golf, Twitter and cable news, what’s left?”

But Sarah Huckerbee Sanders, the President’s press secretary in the White House, chose another Trump catchphrase to describe Mrs Clinton’s prose – “sad”.

She said: “I think it’s sad that after Hillary Clinton ran one of the most negative campaigns in history and lost and the last chapter of her public life is now going to be defined by propping up book sales with false and negligent attacks.

“Whether or not he’s going to read Hillary Clinton’s book, I’m not sure. I would think he’s pretty well-versed on what happened, and I think it’s pretty clear to all of America.”

It seems unlikely the President will digest his former election rival’s new book cover-to-cover – the Commander in Chief has a notoriously short attention span and his ghostwriter said he barely scanned through his own Art of the Deal.

But never one to shy away from opinions on which he may no little about, the President tweeted a message on Tuesday to coincide with the release of What Happened.

“Fascinating to watch people writing books and major articles about me and yet they know nothing about me & have zero access. #FAKE NEWS!” he said.
