Liverpool had a good start to their Premier League campaign up until Saturday’s 5-0 loss to Manchester City.
A large reason for that defeat was the sending off of forward Sadio Mane in the first half with the score at 1-0.
Gerrard says his former side are the most exciting team to watch going forward in England along with Manchester City.
But their defence has come under criticism several times already this season, something Gerrard thinks will change soon.
“There’s been a bit of inconsistency,” he said on BT Sport.

“If you look at Watford and you look at the weekend, obviously the sending off was a major part of the result.
“We’ve covered Liverpool a couple of times and they’ve looked unbelievable going forward, a lot of pace, probably along side Man City as the two most exciting teams in the league.
“But they can’t find consistency in the back four.
“I’m sure once they do it will settle down and I think Liverpool will be a force.
“They’ve had an injury to (Nathaniel) Clyne, the keepers have changed round.
“Obviously (Alberto) Moreno has had a bit of criticism, they’ve also had criticism on set pieces.
“But I’m sure that will settle down and Liverpool will be a force going forward.”
Jurgen Klopp‘s side start their Champions League campaign at home to Sevilla this evening (7.45pm).
