That is the view of Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez as he claimed the Mexican is only facing his man because he was being ridiculed in his home country.
Alvarez faces IBF, WBA and WBC champion Golovkin in a middleweight clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this weekend.
But the fight has been more than three years in the making.
Golovkin’s team believe Alvarez has avoided the fight, a claim the Mexican strongly denies.
But he did opt to relinquish the WBC middleweight title after his 2016 win over Amir Khan rather than face the unbeaten Kazakh star then.

“Canelo is ready but they were pressured into this because all of the stuff they said in the past,” said Sanchez.
“They had to give up the belt, they had us in the ring (after Khan), Oscar De La Hoya was saying all those things about calling us, they were pressured into a position they had no choice but to fight us.
“He was being ridiculed in Mexico and the fans were fed up with all the talk.”
Sanchez is also confident that the bout will not go the distance as he does not believe Alvarez will be strong enough to withstand his man’s power.
GGG has stopped 33 of his 37 victims in a career spent at middleweight.
“I believe Golovkin can knock him out and will knock him out late in the fight,” said the trainer.
“I don’t think Canelo will be strong enough to withstand the onslaught.
“If Canelo cannot get Golovkin’s respect early then he is finished.
“If Golovkin can walk him down and Canelo cannot keep him off then it is a matter of time.”
