Apple TV gets major update and it’s very good news for anyone who owns a 4K TV

The US technology firm has just lifted the lid on a new Apple TV and it has one major advantage over its predecessor.

This latest telly box is now fully compatible with 4K Ultra HDR (High Dynamic Range) content.

Many streaming services, including Netflix and Amazon, have begun featuring 4K but, until now, the Apple TV couldn’t be used to play this top quality format.

Apple says its new TV box will offer the highest picture quality ever with unbelievably sharp, crisp images, richer, more true-to-life colors, and far greater detail in both dark and bright scenes.

As well as Netflix and Amazon content being available on the new Apple TV, movies downloaded from iTunes will also now be available in 4K and they will cost the same as the current HD format.

Apple even says that anyone owning movies from iTunes in HD will get them automatically upgraded to 4K for free.

“Customers will love watching stunning 4K HDR movies from an impressive catalog on iTunes, while also getting automatic upgrades of 4K HDR movies already in their iTunes library and enjoying 4K content on services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, coming soon.”

4K is the latest TV technology and offers users a experience which is four time the quality of tradition HD.

Many broadcasters are now adopting 4K with Sky recently announcing its new service which shows football an F1 in this ultimate format.

The new Apple TV 4K starts at £179 for 32GB or £199 for 64GB.

Alongside its new 4K Apple TV, the US technology giant has also revealed its latest iPhone.

Called the this smartphone now includes an OLED display which covers the entire front of the device.

Updated camera, new processor and wireless charging are also featured along with facial recognition which now replaces the fingerprint scanner.
