Pokemon Go news: First Mewtwo Raid countdown begins following update

Mewtwo Pokemon Go Raids are coming to the game today, on Android and iOS.

So much has been confirmed by the first Trainers known to have been invited to the initial wave of Exclusive Raid Battles.

Posting the Pokemon Go news online, a select group of players have revealed when and where they will be battling the pure psychic-type.

The first wave of Mewtwo battles will be occurring in California and Washington States, with several Trainers sharing pictures of their official invites.

From the information posted, it appears that Ex-Raids will run for around two hours and will include some pretty heavy base capture rate odds.

One of the first Pokemon Go Mewtwo Raids will begin today between 6pm and 8pm, PST. That means that the first catch could occur around 2-3am UK time.

Reddit user broseph23 provided some of the initial info on the game’s first Exclusive Raids invites, explaining: “Yesterday was the last (and first) time I had done a raid at that location.

“I cannot remember what it was, I did three raids in Bellevue yesterday so I can’t remember which was which. I had done raids since then. I am pretty sure whatever it was I did catch.

“For those in other time zones, this notice came just over 48 hours in advance.

“The pass popped up during normal game play. You can see it again when clicking on the pass in the items bag. It also shows up in your journal.

“The last raid is did before this invite was about 10-15 min prior. Raikou raid and it was caught. I have won 40 raids. I don’t know how many are legendary. Maybe 20.”

There also appears to have been a major Pokemon Go update launched by Niantic, to both activate and alter the base capture rates for Mewtwo.

Looking significantly higher than those of the recent Legendary Pokemon launched, it appears Mewtwo’s BCR has been set at 6%.

This can be boosted by using an assortment of items and curveballs, which means catching Mewtwo could be pretty easy.

According to the latest information found by dataminers, using a Golden Razzberry with an Excellent curveball throw will earn you a 47.18% chance of catching.

This is a pretty good chance, with Trainers being given plenty of time to prepare for the encounter and build up essential supplies/

It should be noted that the new Ex-Raids are currently in the beta phase, meaning that Niantic could make some big changes over the days and weeks to come.

It’s likely that more Exclusive Raid passes will start popping up in other parts of North America and Europe soon.

For one, Niantic have promised that other powerful Pokemon will also start to hatch from the Raid Eggs found at Exclusive Raid Battles.
