IT movie: US town terrorised, local police ‘TERRIFIED’ by Pennywise – Culprits caught

There is nothing scarier than a clown.

As the world prepares for the release of IT this weekend, one small US town in Pennsylvania has been traumatised by mysterious Pennywise events.

No small children were abducted, nor were any limbs torn off, but the town was gripped with fear as the news went viral.

The local police force issued an urgent statement, declaring that an investigation was underway and the officers involved had been “completely terrified.”

After Pennywise’s signature red balloons were attached to manholes and sewer grates, the police were forced to take action.

The statement said: “A certain movie is coming to theaters in two days, and a local prankster took it upon themselves to promote the movie.

“We give points for creativity, however we want the local prankster to know that we were completely terrified as we removed these balloons from the grates and we respectfully request they do not do that again.”

The plucky police followed it with another image showing an officer in a clown wig dusting one of the balloons for prints.

Although, it was clear the police were having fun, those responsible quickly turned themselves in.

Local teenager Peyton Treiff and her friends Jetty Finchhalm, Hannah Banack, Skyler Garvey and Brianna Morgan said it was a prank aimed at “our peers and our classmates” but they scoon got scared themselves…

When the police and media got involved, the group worried they were in serious trouble.

Morgan said: “We were kind of like scared, I guess.”

Reiff posted a picture of Twitter with the tag: “We tried to trick our friends but ended up scaring America!”

She told reporters the group had been worried when the police became involved: “We thought they were being serious, but then we scrolled down, and it was a cop dressed as a clown. They were so cool about it and stuff.”

The friends confirmed that no action has been taken by the police.

THE IT MOVIE IS OUT IN UK CINEMAS ON SEPTEMBER 8
