The Star Wars Force Friday II deluge of merchandise last week was immediately scoured for informagtion and clues about The Last Jedi.
Clever fans quickly spotted that the Funko Pop Luke Skywalker figure was wearing a pendant with a red stone.
This fit all the existing rumours that Luke would have a red kyber crystal that was just a fragment of Darth Vader’s shattered lightsaber.
It is yet another way the new trilogy could link back to the previous movies but a new report completely disproves this theory and states that Luke’s shiny new crystal accessory cannot possibly belong to his father.

A new report from Star Wars Youtube channel Mike Zeroh seems to completely disprove these theories.
He said: “We know the crystal plays a big role in the Star Wars The Last Jedi plot. It actually is an ancient cyber crystal that most likely belonged to one of the ancient Jedi and was reclaimed from a Sith lightsaber. It is not a piece of Darth Vader’s kyber crystal.”
So what could make it so important and integral to the plot?
Fan theories had been circulating that Kylo Ren will be sent to Ahch-To by Snoke to kill Luke and Rey but that Kylo has his own personal agenda to reclaim his grandfather’s missing kyber crystal shard. Apart from his general obsession with all things Vader, it was thought he needs the missing piece to make his unstable and incomplete lightsbaer whole.
These theories come unstuck at closer examination of the Return of The Jedi moment when Darth Vader’s lightsaber fell down the shaft on the Death Star 2 which then exploded. It is highly unlikely any part of the weapon survived.
The red kyber crystal on Luke’s pendant, it seems, has a much larger link back to the origins of the Jedi and Sith.
Zeroh adds: “I believe Luke Skywalker touched this crystal, which sucked him into a Forceback vision that made him learn more about the ancient Jedi and lead to him questioning the Jedi and how they must end.”
