Man Utd news: Stoke game is crucial to Jose Mourinho’s title chances – Tony Gale

Jose Mourinho’s side have won their opening three Premier League fixtures of the season without conceding a goal.

They sit top of the table and look in their best shape since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 to win the title.

United struggled against side’s lower down the table last season, especially at Old Trafford, but Gale does not think they will have the same problem this term.

But he says they must pick up all points available on Saturday against a Stoke team who have already beaten Arsenal at home this season.

“I think it’s a crucial game for Manchester United, even at this stage of the season,” Gale told Sky Sports.

“I think teams that are losing points, even now, it’s going to stack up when you get to midway through the season.

“The fixtures get congested, the Champions League kicks in, so these games you’ve got to win, get the points in the bank and then that will prove to be crucial come the end of the season.

“I think it’s a United team that’s going to cope better with the lesser teams, and I don’t mean that disrespectfully to Stoke

“When the big six play each other, those games are crucial yes, but you’ve got to pick up the three points against these types of teams.

“But of course, Stoke City are a good footballing side, they won’t just come and put up shop at home against Manchester United.

“They’ll want to play their football because under Mark Hughes they’ve always played good football but that may suit Man United.”
