Kodi UPDATE – This popular add-on is now FREE to download for everyone

Kodi users are now able to download and install the Plex add-on on completely for free.

The Plex add-on lets you organise and consume media on almost any smart device you have.

Previously, you needed to be a Plex Pass subscriber in order to the use the official Kodi add-on.

However, that requirement has now been removed – with the add-on available to download for free for everyone using Kodi.

The Kodi add-on lets you essential create your own streaming-service using media in your personal library.

vCard QR Code

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

The combination of the two services gives users the slick and professional experience of Plex alongside the flexibility of Kodi.

It also means you don’t need to switch between Kodi and Plex apps on your device.

The news about the Kodi add-on was revealed by Windows Central.

A statement they have on the Plex add-on said: “With the Plex for Kodi add-on, you get the Kodi experience for your big screen, powered by Plex Media Server, and enabling you to organise and access your beautiful media on any device, anywhere, anytime.”

While the Plex add-on for Kodi is free, there will be a number of missing features.

These are audio fingerprinting, support for multiple user accounts, and parental controls.

These features are only available in the premium pass subscription.

The news comes as in recent months a number of add-ons have closed their doors including the popular Navi-X  service.

The Kodi software is not illegal but the open source platform can easily be adapted and changed with third-party add-ons which then allow access to pirated and illegal content.

Plex is not one of these add-ons, as it simply helps users manage their media library with a sleek looking user interface.

Speaking about the decision to shut down Navi-X, the team behind the add-on revealed in a statement: “Every good thing must come to an end.

“After ten years of successful operation, Navi-X has sadly being discontinued.

“The main reason why the decision was made to discontinue the Navi-X service is the current legal climate surrounding Kodi.”

Now it seems another add-on has had enough and is closing its digital doors.

According to TorrentFreak, the MetalKettle add-on has become hugely popular but its creators have revealed they are shutting up shop.

Speaking about the closure, MetalKettle said: “Over the past year or so Kodi has become more mainstream and public we’ve all seen the actions of others become highlighted legally, with authorities determined to target 3rd party addons making traction.

“This has eventually caused me to consider ‘what if?’ – the result of which never ends well in my mind,”

“With all this said I have decided to actively give up 3rd party addon development (at least for the time being) and concentrate on being a husband and father.”
