Super Mario Bros just saw a big update following key news on Odyssey release

The Super Mario Bros have apparently left their original trade and have moved onto pastures new.

Nintendo have now confirmed that Mario is no longer a Plumber, something that has been part of the character since the NES and SNES games.

That we never really saw Mario doing anything related to plumbing, apart from jumping down huge pipes in the grounds, would suggest that things may have changed.

And according to the character’s newly updated Nintendo profile, that part of Mario’s working career is now firmly in the past.

“All around sporty, whether it’s tennis or baseball, soccer or car racing, he [Mario] does everything cool,” the updated profile explains.

“As a matter of fact, he also seems to have worked as a plumber a long time ago…”

It’s not the first time Mario has changed professions, having donned a Doctors outfit, while also apparently being more of a carpenter back when he was known as Jumpman in 1981’s Donkey Kong.

We also found out more about the character’s next big adventure, Super Mario Odyssey.

More information has been released via the game’s upcoming Amiibo collection.

Box art for the new figures shows a world map pattern with names of some the game’s kingdoms.

One of the easiest to spot is the Mushroom Kingdom, as well as other places we already knew about, such as Donk City.

Nintendo Switch fans were treated to a look at a brand new area called Luncheon Kingdom, during Gamescom 2017.

This includes a look at a new level called Under the Cheese Rock.

The kingdom was inspired by Italy and other European countries, which have a rich variety of food cultures and cuisines.

Super Mario Odyssey has been given an October 27 release date on Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch release even contains a special NES surprise for fans of Mario Bros.

During a recent hands-on with the game, it was revealed that levels will be filled with 2D sections when players enter special pipes.

As Mario merges with the wall, players must guide him to the exit, all the while avoiding Bullet Bills, stomping Goombas and collecting coins in classic 2D gameplay.

It’s very similar to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which saw Link solve puzzles and reach secret areas by shuffling along walls.
