Terrible broadband connection? EE has a very fast and very expensive solution

With many homes still not getting fast broadband speeds via their fixed line, EE is hoping to help beam improved connections to customers via its award-winning 4G network.

The mobile company has just announced the launch of its latest device called the 4GEE Home Router.

This Cat 7-enabled mobile Wi-Fi device, which is compatible with 4G+, promises to bring speeds of up to 90Mbps – over four times faster than the current national average.

EE says its new router allows up to 32 devices to be connected to it at anytime and the device is also portable, so can be easily turned off and on again should a customer move house.

Max Taylor, Managing Director of Marketing, EE, said: “Our new 4GEE Home Router provides customers with a great alternative to fixed-line broadband using the UK’s fastest and most reliable mobile network.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

“It’s simple to set up and use straight out of the box, so it’s ideal for customers with slower fixed line speed or people who regularly move house and need instant Wi-Fi connectivity.”

Although it certainly sounds impressive there is one catch with owning this new EE device.

Prices for the router start from £25 per month which includes 10GB of data and rises to a wallet-busting £100 per month 200GB of data.

Considering that an HD movie download uses around 5GB of data it’s not going to take long to burn through these fairly expensive price plans.

Most broadband providers will give customers unlimited downloads with some starting from as low as £20 per month, although these are often restricted to low speeds of under 20Mb.

However, if you can’t get a decent connection from a fixed line, EE’s service should bring faster broadband to your home.

The 4GEE Home Router is available for order in-store, online and via EE telesales from today, the new 4GEE Home Router is available free on the following 18 month price plans.

10GB • £25 per month

50GB • £50 per month

100GB • £75 per month

200GB • £100 per month
