Windows 10 Fall Creators Update – New features coming this month to Microsoft OS

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is the second big update the flagship Microsoft OS is getting this year.

The latest preview build of the upcoming update became available for Windows Insiders in the Fast ring yesterday.

However, the recent Preview Build 16353 was only available to those who had opted in to Skip Ahead only.

This let Windows Insiders in the Fast ring “skip ahead” to builds that would only be part of the next big update for .

Testing for the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update have been going on for months ahead of its upcoming release date.

And Microsoft recently launched a new website which outlined some of the main features coming to the big patch.

Here Express.co.uk rounds up the big features the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will boast.

WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE – TIMELINE

The Timeline feature lets users scroll through a list of applications and workspaces that you were previously using on your current machine, or Microsoft apps on rival devices.

It organises the different sessions by dates and shows the programmes you used and what you were working on or watching then.

You can then pick off where you left off, and thanks to Cortana integration this will extend to some Microsoft apps on iOS and Android.

It’s designed to be a quick and easy way to move from one machine to another.

Microsoft is also including a cloud clipboard, so you can copy text on one device and paste it on another.

WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE – STORY REMIX

The Windows 10 Story Remix feature is Microsoft’s brand new video editing tool.

It will let Windows 10 users merge together photos and videos and add in 3D effects.

Like with Movie Maker, you will be able to drop in music and transitions as you edit your videos.

Movie Maker was officially removed for download by Microsoft earlier this year.

WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE – MIXED REALITY

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will also offer support for Microsoft mixed reality devices.

Windows Mixed Reality-ready PCs will support a range of Mixed-Reality headsets and motion controllers.

A concept video on a new Windows 10 Fall Creators Update website showed someone using a Mixed-Reality headset and motion controller.

The clip showed them being able to access a range of tools using the motion controller, with one of them being a paint brush.

They were then able to create a huge, 3D painting inside a virtual space.

WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE – FLUENT DESIGN

Microsoft is including some of its new Fluent Design System into the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

These changes will include subtle additions like blur effects and opaque layered effects.

The design overhaul, introduced at the Microsoft’s Build Conference, is the Redmond-based tech giant’s new “design system” for Windows.

It will be the basis also for Microsoft’s iOS and Android apps.

The new look will take place gradually as Microsoft updates its apps as more Windows developers take advantage of the design tools at their disposal.
