Star Wars 8 opening scene REVEALED: NEW image shows EXACTLY how The Last Jedi will start

It’s fair to say that The Force Awakens ended on a mighty cliffhanger.

Not only did it finish on the actual edge of a mighty big cliff, it left fans hanging, just as Luke Skywalker and Rey were about to get acquainted.

What will happen? Who will speak first? What will they say? Will Luke’s lightsaber whizz out of Rey’s hands and back to its rightful owner?

A stunning new image reveals exactly what will take place at the ancient Jedi temple on Ahch-To.

The revealtion has been made on the cover of UK film bible, Empire Magazine.

The magazine said: “As you can see, our subscriber cover shows the hand of Daisy Ridley’s Rey handing the lightsaber to the robotic hand of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, as seen in the final scene of The Force Awakens and the opening scene of The Last Jedi.”

It has been definitively confirmed, then, that this is the opening scene of Episode 8.

Incredible new leaks also revealed the enormity of what will be said.

Star Wars Youtube channel Mike Zeroh recently revealed: ” His (Luke’s) first words will be more iconic than ‘May the Force be with you.’ It makes one wonder, what could Luke possibly say to Rey that would top ‘May the Force be with you’?”

Daisy Ridley told the audience at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year that a lot of fans will be very surprised by Luke’s first words to Rey.

Back in March at a special presentation fans leaked what was assumed to be the opening line. LA Times writer Daniel Miller tweeted: “We just saw more Star Wars The Last Jedi footage. In it, Luke asks Rey, ‘Who are you?’ Then we see her deftly handle a lightsaber.”

But this no longer seems to be the case.

It certainly does not fit the criteria for being the most epic Star Wars line ever.

It could be a voiceover accompanying other images. It could be something he says to Rey later on, meaning that he is wondering about her identity and role in a large sense. Rather than the opening line of meeting a stranger, this could be a scene where he ponders on Rey’s parentage, or whether she is, in fact, the next Chosen One.

Zeroh also cited sources at Pinewood when he revealed that the The Last Jedi will start with a tiny jump back in time, revealing the ending of The Force Awakens from Luke’s point of view.

He said: “We learned that the Millennium Falcon will be part of the opening. The film is going to pick up right before the ending of the Force Awakens. That’s why they reshot all the scenes on Skellig island.

“I imagine the whole opening scenes will be the same as The Force Awakens except mostly from Luke Skywalker’s point of view. I believe you will have an external view of the Millennium Falcon swooping towards Ahch-To.”

STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI IS OUT IN UK CINEMAS ON DECEMBER 14
