IT movie: Huge SEQUEL news from director Andres Muschietti – What next for Pennywise?

The upcoming IT movie is expected to scare some life back into the global box office.

After a disapppointing summer of fumbles and flops, Hollywood is hoping that the horror movie won’t clown around and will bring in record numbers. 

The director, Andres Muschietti, was already linked to move on to a new project, Robotech, next, but it looks like everyting has changed.

The Argentinian just revealed his exciting plans for the IT sequel that will guarantee it is bigger, badder and balloontastic.

Muschietti was talking to Italian entertainment site Bad Taste at the Venice Film Festival, when he dropped the huge news.

Fans already new that the IT movie is based on the first part of Stephen Kings’ horror classic. A sequel will pick up events 20 years later in Derry and follow Pennywise and the other incarnations of the terrifying ancient evil being who preys on young children.

Muschietti was expected to take a break and concentrate on the sci-fi epic Robotech first, which is reportedly a “high priority” for Sony Studios. 

However, IT signalled the likelihood of a massive box office success when the first trailer broke all records and anticipation has continued to build. The movie is on course to exceed all expectations when it finally hits cinemas in teh UK and US on September 8.

When Bad Taste asked Muscietti if he would still make Robotech before the IT sequel he stunned fans when he said: “No, It 2 is my priority. In which case, I will direct Robotech afterwards.”

He also confirmed that he expected he would be able to expand his vision in the second movie.

When he was asked if teh exoected success of the first movie would increase his budget he said: ” I would certainly hope so.”
