The 87-year-old legend is well known for his love of tennis and made a rare public appearance yesterday at the US Open in New York.
When Connery arrived to watch Roger Federer play Frances Tiafoe, the original 007 was met with quite the surprise.
As the Scottish actor prepared to watch the match, the James Bond theme was played around the Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre.
According to Daily Mail, Connery was even given an ovation – as seen in some of the close up snaps of him in his seat at the President Box.
Connery starred as James Bond in seven 007 movies from 1962 to 1983 and has been retired from acting for over a decade.
In a recent YouGov poll he was voted the UK’s favourite Bond actor with 27% of the vote.
Most of his fans were over 50, but nevertheless it shows the star’s legacy continues.
Apart from Bond, the actor has had quite the career, but famously turned down playing Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings.
Had Connery taken the role of Gandalf in Tolkien’s epic trilogy, he would have made over £350 million.
Speaking with Huffington Post, he said: “I never understood it. I read the book. I read the script. I saw the movie. I still don’t understand it.”
