Everything we’ve seen from ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ so far – CNET

“Star Trek: Discovery” will star Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou (left) and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham — the main protagonist of the series.

Here Captain Georgiou and Burnham traverse a new planet.

And it looks like they’ll play a pivotal role in the conflict of “Discovery.” Mary Chieffo stars as L’Rell (left) and Chris Obi is T’Kuvma.

Mary Chieffo stars as Klingon commander L’Rell. Little is known about what role the Klingons will play in this series. The timeline of the setting is a bit wibbly wobbly between “Enterprise” and the original series, so theories abound on why these Klingons don’t look like those we’ve seen before. 

We do know that “Discovery” will explore the differences between Klingon houses. Kenneth Mitchell stars as Klingon commander Kol (pictured) and recently spoke about the Klingons at the Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas, saying the show will explore the 24 Klingons houses and their leaders. 

Klingon leader T’Kuvma is looking to unite the Klingon houses. Doesn’t look like the Klingons you remember? Again, theories abound: one says that the new look may be due to the storyline taking place before the Klingon augment virus, but we’ll have to wait to find out.

Captain Georgiou (Yeoh) commands the USS Shenzhou NCC-1227, a Walker Class vessel. 

Played by Rainn Wilson, he teased Saturday at Comic-Con that he got to see the transporter room, be transporter and hold a phaser. None of which bodes well for our heroes, but sounds great.

The seriously gold transporter room looks like a crazy — wait a second, are they wearing armor?! Well, that’s new.

In what looks like the same room, we see Burnham and her armor close up.

The concept art alluded to this big moment, and the second trailer confirms it.

Also this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, CBS will release two limited-edition posters on a first-come, first-served basis. One features the USS Discovery in space.

The second exclusive poster appears to show an officer on an unnamed… planet?

On the left of the bridge is Lieutenant Saru, member of a new alien species, and played by Doug Jones. He is presumably checking out what’s on the viewscreen with Burnham (center) and Captain Georgiou.

Potential hologram (or memory?) Captain Georgiou imparts wisdom (maybe?) on Burnham.

Jason Isaacs stars as Captain Gabriel Lorca of the titular Federation ship.

Speaking with EW, Martin-Green said her character is fully human, but was the first human to attend the Vulcan Learning Center, and then the Vulcan Science Academy. She also has a close relationship with Sarek (Spock’s father), which we see in the first trailer.

We spoke with executive producer Alex Kurtzman about the future of Star Trek and how “Discovery” will be different.
