Bigger than Game of Thrones Season 7? New announcement could be round the corner

A new report out this week suggests that a Bethesda Games of Thrones title is now in development.

While Game of Thrones Season 7 may be winding down, new gaming rumours could take the place of the usual plot leaks and online spoilers.

The new rumour comes from a store listing that suggests that Bethesda could be working on a big new project for Westeros fans.

Unfortunately for those interested, the page found by fans only includes the line Bethesda: Games of Thrones.

There’s no pre-order information, images, or even a synopsis, so the theories on what this could be can run unabated.

As you might expect, it’ll be worth taking this latest report with a pinch of salt, as no parties currently tied to this listing have said anything about it.

For those who are hoping this is true, Bethesda have confirmed that they have a long list of new titles being worked on.

They have also revealed that staple franchises such as The Elder Scrolls will not see a sequel announced for quite sometime.

According to studio VP Pete Hines, Elder Scrolls 6 will not be at Gamescom 2017, or 2018, although he did not rule out something popping up at Gamescom 2019.

Would that leave enough room open for something as big as a Games of Thrones title?

Bethesda are a studio who a consistently linked to big gaming projects, with Hines recently having to debunk a myth that the studio were working on a Elder Scrolls – Fallout crossover.

Hines revealed after E3 that Bethesda currently have two major projects in the pipeline, as well as things like Skyrim for Nintendo Switch.

“We’re not talking about things like a Fallout Shelter kind of project but, like, big multiplatform releases like you expect,” Hines told Geoff Kightly during E3.

“I tried to manage expectations for folks, you know the kind of games they [Bethesda Game Studios] make, they take a while.

“They have two major things that they’re working on in addition to other stuff, Skyrim [on Nintendo] Switch and all these other things.”

What this ultimately means is that until these new project are finished, The Elder Scrolls 6 will not move into development.

This would also suggest that the games currently being worked on are near to being on par with the Elder Scrolls 6 in terms of project size.
