McGregor Mayweather LIVE: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather latest updates from Las Vegas

CONOR MCGREGOR VS FLOYD MAYWEATHER: Follow all the latest from the Las Vegas superfight…

Conor McGregor takes on Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas TONIGHT as UFC meets boxing in a one-of-a-kind showdown.

Heraldez wins

01:19: In the end Juan Heraldez unanimously defeated Jose Miguel Borrego 96-93, 97-92, 97-92, despite being dropped by him in the ninth round.

That’s a big old whack but the American comes out on the victor.

Boxing opinions

01:14: What do the world of boxing think is going to happen in tonight’s fight?

Anthony Joshua is kind of sitting on the fence, just saying things could still work out for Conor McGregor even if he loses to Floyd Mayweather.

Chris Eubank Snr fancies the Irishman for a shock victory, but Amir Khan, David Haye and Mike Tyson are siding with Mayweather.

Mental merchandise

00:57: Imagine being in the T-Mobile Arena tonight. All the glitz, the glamour, the celebs, the fidget spinners…

Wait, what? Yep they are actually selling Mayweather-McGregor figget spinners, whatever the hell that is.

They are also selling beer koozies and mini towels. We could find more use for them at Express HQ, maybe our man in Vegas will bring us some back. Here’s hoping!

Cleverly vs Jack

00:45: Sky Sports have just shown a glimpse of Brit fighter Nathan Cleverly pacing around menacingly backstage ahead of his bout with Sweden’s Badou Jack.

Boxing fans are getting very excited about Welshman Cleverly’s fight with Jack, who drew with another Brit James DeGale last time out in their showdown in New York back in January.

Cleverly’s record is 30-3 while Jack is 21-1. Cleverley is 30, Jack 33. Both men are 6ft 1in. Very evenly matched in stats but the bookies fancy Jack at 3/10 – Cleverly 7/2. The draw 25/1.

That one should start around 2am British time.

Ticket NOT sold out?

00:27: Actually scrap that, apparently tickets have NOT sold out for McGregor Mayweather.

Tickets for this showdown have been going for astronomical prices, ranging from £387 ($500) to a frankly stupid £7,749 ($10,000).

And T-Mobile Arena general manager Dan Quinn has admitted they have not sold all the tickets going.

“Every event is its own machine in terms of marketing and demand,” Quinn said.

“There’s just so many factors that go into it. Us in the arena world, we’re always amazed that when we book any event on the ones that are home runs right off the bat and the ones that we think are gonna do great, we don’t quite get there.

“There’s just so many variables in place. It’s tough to isolate any one if you have an event that doesn’t sell through all the tickets.”

Undercard update

00:20: Sorry, I’ve been so transfixed on Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather that I’ve forgot the other fights going on tonight.

The action inside the T-Mobile Arena is well underway with British fighter Savannah Marshall winning her professional debut against Amy Coleman via unanimous decision first up. Nice.

Then Mexican Antonio Hernandez beat Kevin Newman via unanimous decision (57-56, 59-54, 59-45).

Right now Juan Heraldez and Jose Miguel Borrego are going at it. The arena is barely 10 per cent full, but boy it will be in a few hours.

Time to nap?

00:10: Right so the big question is what time is the fight actually going to start?

Okay, so the biggest question is who is going to win Conor McGregor or Floyd Mayweather, but we will get to that.

We have heard mixed predictions for when the first bells will ding in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas but the majority are saying 4am British time.

Vegas (PDT) is eight hours ahead of London (BST) so that would make it 8pm in Vegas when these two fighters lock horns.

It’s just gone midnight now, enough time for a nap?

It’s on!

00:00: We are finally here – fight night. The bout we never thought possible is about to happen, the super-fight of the century!

Yes the boxing purists are refusing to buy into the hype that UFC superstar Conor McGregor could actually beat boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in the ring.

But here at Express Sport towers we believe in McGregor, well we aren’t really sure what’s gonna happen but we are up for the ride!

Stay with us for all the latest build up from Las Vegas…
