Philippe Coutinho is worried Ousmane Dembele joining Barcelona will hit his transfer hopes

Barcelona have just announced the signing on Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for £96.8million (€105m) plus add-ons.

Barcelona have been looking for a replacement for Neymar since he shocked the football world by joining Paris Saint-Germain in a £200m deal.

Barca said in a statement on their official website: “FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ousmane Dembele for 105 million euros plus add-ons. The player will sign a five year contract and his buy out-clause is set at 400 million euros.”

Barcelona have also been trying to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool this summer but have found the Premier League club unwilling to do business.

Liverpool have rejected three bids from Barca for Coutinho, the last thought to be worth £118m.

And Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims Coutinho – who has handed a transfer request in at Anfield – is worried their signing of Dembele could affect his future.

“Where does that leave Philippe Coutinho? Our information is that nothing has changed as far as he’s concerned, he still wants to go to Barcelona,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre this afternoon.

“But he is worried the Dembele move could affect his own future. We are told that Coutinho’s mood at the moment is very, very low.

“Coutinho is out of Liverpool’s game with Arsenal on Sunday, but Jurgen Klopp says he could still join up with the Brazil squad next week.”
