Best eclipse ever!’ Trump tweets photo of him overshadowing Obama days after spectacle

The US President, who began his political career by questioning the birth place of Mr Obama, who he claimed was born in Kenya, and not the United States, retweeted the controversial tweet on Tuesday.

He has made no secret about how much he dislikes the country’s first African American president and retweeted the quadruple photo spread of himself slowly eclipsing the former president.

The series starts with a photo that shows a glimpse of Mr Trump, who is in colour in the frame, along with a black and white image of Obama.

Mr Trump gradually commands more of the frame in the next two photos until the fourth and final one shows a smiling Trump and no Obama.

The President retweeted the series, titled “The Best Eclipse Ever!” from Twitter user, @JerryTravone.

But he did not add his own comment.

The tweet came in the wake of the solar eclipse which united Americans from across the US who came together to witness the phenomenal natural occurrence.

Millions of Americans watched day turn to night for a couple of minutes wearing protective glasses.

Mr Trump was mocked on social media for staring at the eclipse without wearing his protective glasses.

Mr Travone, who posted the photo of the two presidents, describes himself on Twitter as a YouTube actor, political junkie and a “proud Trump supporter”.

Mr Trump has often seemed obsessed with talking about his predecessor and harps on about the “mess” that he inherited from Mr Obama – who was borne in Hawaii in 1961.

He began his political career with the birther movement which questioned Mr Obama’s birthplace.

He stirred up so much support among some sections of American society that Mr Obama was forced to release a copy of his birth certificate.

But even after that, rumours that he was actually born in Africa persisted.

In September, Mr Trump gave a short press conference in which he was forced to admit that Mr Obama was an American.

His declaration came after five years of pushing the false accusations.

He said: “President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period.

“Now we all want to get back to making America strong and great again.”
