New Developments in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Legal Dispute

New details have surfaced concerning the legal case involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. This update focuses on the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal dispute, particularly regarding Taylor Swift’s involvement.

Following Taylor Swift’s subpoena as a potential witness by Justin Baldoni’s counsel earlier this month, Baldoni’s team has reportedly dismissed the subpoena in a surprising turn, according to People.

Lively’s Representative Responds

A representative for Lively, 37, informed The Post that they are “pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm.”

“We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel,” they stated to The Post, “and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”

“The Baldoni and Wayfarer team have tried to put Taylor Swift, an artist who has been an inspiration for tens of millions across the globe, at the center of this case since day one,” the spokesperson continued. “Exploiting Taylor Swift’s celebrity was the original plan in Melissa Nathan’s scenario planning document, and it continues to this day. Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded. At some point, they will run out of distractions from the actual claims of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing.”

The Post has sought comments from representatives for Swift and Baldoni’s legal counsel.

Swift’s Initial Response to Subpoena

Addressing the initial subpoena filing, a representative for Swift, 35, conveyed, “Taylor Swift never visited the set of this film, she had no part in any casting or creative choices, she did not compose the score, she never previewed or provided input on the film, she didn’t even view ‘It Ends With Us’ until several weeks after its official release, and she spent 2023 and 2024 touring the world headlining the biggest tour in history.”

Judge Dismisses Letter from Baldoni’s Attorney

On May 15, Judge Lewis J. Liman approved Lively’s request to dismiss a letter penned by Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, amidst the ongoing legal conflict.

In the letter, Freedman asserted that an anonymous source claimed that Lively’s main attorney, Michael Gottlieb, purportedly threatened to disseminate Swift’s text exchanges if she didn’t publicly voice her support for Lively.

He also alleged that the “Gossip Girl” actress supposedly asked Swift to remove their text history.

Gottlieb refuted these allegations, and the order, as obtained by The Post, stated that the filing was deemed “improper” and “irrelevant.”

“It took the court less than 24 hours to see through Mr. Freedman’s irrelevant, improper, and inflammatory accusations, strike them, remove them from the court, and warn Mr. Freedman that further misconduct may be met with sanctions,” Lively’s spokesperson communicated to The Post at the time.

Baldoni’s Counterclaim and Swift’s Alleged Involvement

Swift was also mentioned in Baldoni’s $400 million counterclaim against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, where the “It Ends With Us” director stated that, in a text conversation, Lively dubbed Swift one of her “dragons” and likened herself to Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones.”

In the suit, Baldoni alleged that the Grammy award winner was present during a crucial meeting at Lively and Reynold’s New York City penthouse.

Background of the Legal Battle

This legal confrontation between Baldoni and Lively began in December 2024, when the “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” actress accused Baldoni of sexual misconduct during the filming of “It Ends With Us.”

Lively also accused Baldoni of initiating a smear campaign against her.

Both parties have denied these claims, and their trial is scheduled for March 2026. The Taylor Swift subpoena added complexity to the case.

Status of Lively and Swift’s Friendship

Amid this controversy, Swift and Lively’s friendship has reportedly taken a backseat, despite Swift being the godmother to Lively and Reynolds’ four children.

“Their friendship has halted,” a source shared with People on May 15.

The insider added, “Taylor wants no part in this drama.”

Another source echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that Swift and Lively are “taking some space” but emphasized that they are “not no longer friends.” Despite the Blake Lively drama, sources indicate a temporary pause rather than a complete end to their friendship.

History of Their Friendship

Lively and Swift’s friendship spans back to 2014, but even before the subpoena, rumors suggested their friendship was in a “fragile” state.

A source conveyed to People in April that Swift felt “really hurt” when entangled in the “It Ends With Us” controversy.

According to another insider at the time, they were allegedly endeavoring to “put it all behind them” until the filing reportedly “fractured” the progress they made. These claims put the Blake Lively Taylor Swift relationship under scrutiny.
