Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is expanding his presence in the film industry, revealing that his production company, Dawn Apollo, is collaborating with screenwriters to develop and produce three films. This announcement followed a private screening in Monte Carlo of the upcoming F1 film, on which he served as a producer and consultant, showcasing his commitment to both Formula 1 and the broader film production landscape.

Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films to Produce New Movies

During the screening, Hamilton expressed his excitement about the project and his future plans. “At the beginning, you see all the different logos for the various production houses, and then mine appears—Dawn Apollo, which I’ve dedicated so much time to. Seeing that was simply amazing,” he remarked. He added, “This project has reached a very high level, a dream debut. But we intend to produce more movies in the coming years. I’ve already developed three concepts that I’m currently writing, with the aid of experienced writers.”

Diverse Projects in Development

Hamilton elaborated on the nature of his upcoming projects:

  • “I have several concepts in mind; at least two will be animated features.”
  • “One project is already in the initial script phase, which is extremely exciting.”
  • “We also plan to create documentaries and, eventually, TV series. However, our primary focus will remain on movie production. I simply love movies.”

Reaction to the F1 Film Screening

Ahead of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton also admitted to feeling apprehensive about showcasing the F1 film to his fellow drivers at the private screening.

Drivers’ First Impressions

“Yesterday, all the drivers were present. I was seated in the middle, feeling quite nervous, as everyone was seeing it for the first time,” Hamilton shared. “It was wonderful to observe their reactions, especially those of the drivers. I genuinely value the drivers’ opinions and wanted them to think highly of the film.”

He continued, “I told them afterward that I welcome their honest feedback. The sound and visuals are exceptional. It represents something that has never been done before, and I am incredibly proud of it.”

Verstappen’s Absence from the Screening

Max Verstappen, known for his unique approach to Formula One, chose not to attend the private screening. While attendance was encouraged, it was not mandatory due to the event taking place during the drivers’ personal time, outside of the race weekend schedule. All drivers, with the exception of Verstappen and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, were present. Verstappen stated that he had informed F1 in advance of his desire to spend time with his family.

Prioritizing Family Time

“I simply wanted to spend more time at home,” Verstappen explained, who recently welcomed a child with his partner, Kelly Piquet. “It was my personal time, and I prefer to spend that at home, especially since Formula One already requires so much time away from my family.”

Normal Desire

“Wanting to spend more time at home on days like that is pretty normal. Now that the family is growing, then I definitely prefer to spend more time at home.”
