Arc, an electric boat startup, has unveiled a new model, the Arc Coast, positioned as its most affordable and accessible watercraft to date.
Arc Introduces the Coast: A New Electric Boat
The new vessel, dubbed the Arc Coast, will carry a starting price of $168,000. The company is currently accepting preorders for the Coast, with anticipated deliveries commencing in 2026. This electric boat represents a significant step forward in expanding access to electric boating.
The Coast is designed as a “center console” boat, a style frequently favored for fishing activities. It is the company’s third offering, following the limited-edition Arc One, priced at $300,000, and the Arc Sport, which retails for $268,000. This launch occurs only four years after the company emerged from stealth mode, marking a rapid trajectory in the electric boat market.
The company recently announced its involvement in an electric tug boat project for the Port of Los Angeles. This endeavor aligns with founder and CEO Mitch Lee’s ambitious goal of electrifying all types of watercraft.
Arc Coast: Power and Performance
Arc reports that the Coast utilizes the same 226kWh battery pack developed for the Sport model, and has similar dimensions. This battery is projected to offer several hours of operation β between four and five hours, or potentially longer, contingent on the operator’s utilization of the available 400 horsepower. It can propel the Coast to speeds of approximately 50 miles per hour and accommodate up to 10 passengers.
Design and Features of this Electric Boat
The primary distinction between the Coast and the Sport, apart from the price, is the layout. Consistent with its designation, the console, or helm, is centrally located, facilitating greater freedom of movement around the perimeter. The fit and finish appear to mirror the quality of Arc’s other boats, which were notably impressive, even in the production-intended Sport model tested earlier this year. Arc has devoted considerable effort to the software displayed on the center console screens, resulting in a minimalist yet information-rich user experience.
Advantages of Electric Boats
- No Exhaust Fumes
- No Winterization Required
- Reduced Noise Pollution
When considering these advantages over traditional gasoline-powered boats, it becomes easier to see consumers justifying the substantial price point when the electric boat hits the market next year.
