Experiencing trouble with your television service this morning? You’re not alone. Sky TV is grappling with significant disruptions, with service outages began last night. Down Detector, a site that monitors outages, reported over 30,000 complaints at the peak of the problem, confirming its widespread nature. Even now, reports continue to flood in, with over 2,000 users reporting ongoing Sky service issues.
Sky Q Box Issues
The disturbance appears to be affecting Sky Q boxes, with users encountering error messages related to the Sky signal on their screens. Some subscribers have even stated that disconnecting and restarting the device doesn’t resolve the problem, as errors persist. Additionally, users have reported that their Q boxes are frequently freezing.
Customer Complaints Surge Online
Alongside the numerous reports on Down Detector, a significant number of customers have taken to social media platforms to voice their grievances.
- On X (formerly Twitter), one Sky subscriber, Louise, posted: “Are you going to tell people what’s going on??? Sky TV has been down for at least 2hrs, and your website says no issues! Mine stays on for 10mins max, then disconnects from my TV.”
- Another customer, Charlotte, questioned, “Is anyone’s Sky TV down? Sky goes off randomly when watching TV and then says something about signal.”
User Frustration with Sky Q
Sky user Carl expressed his frustration, stating, “My sky Q box keeps on shutting down so you have to pull the power lead out for the box has to reboot, it’s happened 4x times now.”
Sky’s Response to the Outage
Sky has yet to officially acknowledge the issues or provide an estimated resolution timeline. However, reports suggest that fewer users are affected this morning compared to the previous night, indicating a potential gradual restoration of service.
Sky Glass Users Also Affected
This issue follows a prior incident where Sky Glass users experienced a separate problem, with some reporting audio but no visual display.
Sky Glass Connectivity Concerns
Sky Glass, which is an internet-connected television, eliminates the need for a satellite dish, streaming content directly to the 4K screen via broadband.
While the connection between this web connectivity and the current issue remains unclear, Sky has stated that addressing these problems is a ‘priority’.
“We’re aware of a technical issue which we believe is impacting a small number of Sky Glass customers,” a Sky spokesperson stated. “We’re investigating this as a priority and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
