Even icons like Kim Kardashian occasionally take unexpected detours in the world of Paris fashion. While usually known for her impeccable style, the reality star and influencer, age 44, made a surprising choice for a casual luncheon in Paris. Accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner, Kardashian’s ensemble raised some eyebrows with its distinct choices.
Kim Kardashian’s Unconventional Paris Look
The star emerged from her hotel sporting a striking cream satin gown. The dress, featuring a plunging neckline and feathered trim, was already a bold statement.
The Gown’s Details
- The daring gown flaunted a low-cut front, showcasing Kim’s décolletage.
- Matching feathered detailing adorned both the neckline and the skirt’s edge.
The Unexpected Accessory
Adding an unexpected twist, Kardashian accessorized the elegant gown with a simple blue baseball cap, perhaps seeking refuge from the sunny weather.
Kris Jenner’s Contrasting Ensemble
In stark contrast to her daughter, Kris Jenner chose a more conventional attire. She exited the hotel in a burgundy double-breasted suit, complemented by a matching tie and a striped shirt.
Kim Kardashian’s Testimony in Paris Jewelry Heist Trial
The mother-daughter outing occurred after Kim Kardashian’s emotional appearance in court. She testified during the trial concerning a 2016 jewelry heist that occurred in Paris.
Tearful Testimony
The reality star became emotional while telling the court that she forgives the defendant, despite enduring what she described as fears of rape and murder during the $10 million robbery.
The Jewelry Worn to Court
For her appearance, Kim arrived adorned with a $3 million necklace by Samer Halimeh New York. The necklace featured 80 diamonds set in 18K white gold, highlighted by a 10.13-carat pear-shaped center stone.
She additionally wore a Sloan Pave diamond ear cuff valued at $8,300.
Recalling the Heist
Inside the courtroom, Kardashian broke down and shared the chilling details of the night. Kardashian recounted her fears during that evening to the courtroom, with Kris Jenner by her side. The star tearfully shared:
‘I just want to be heard and understood. I appreciate the letter, those words. I forgive you. But it doesn’t change the emotion and the feelings, the trauma, and my life being changed forever.’
This statement followed the reading of an apology note written to Kardashian in 2017 by the judge.
Paris, a place once loved
Kardashian expressed the change in her feelings towards the city:
‘I came to Paris for Fashion Week, Paris was always a place that I loved so much… I always felt very safe.’
She proceeded to describe the events of the robbery.
The Night of the Robbery
Kim described the harrowing moments of the robbery:
‘It was around three in the morning. I heard stomping up the stairs when I was in bed… And in my bedroom come in a few police officers, or what I assumed were police officers as they were in police uniforms.’
She then stated the attackers arrived disguised as police officers and had the concierge in handcuffs.
The reality star recounted being tied up with cable ties, dragged to the bathtub, and having a gun pointed at her head. She recalled one of the robbers demanding her ring.
Fears During the Attack
According to the investigators, the suspects are accused of restraining Kardashian with zip ties and duct tape before fleeing with the jewels, including a $4 million engagement ring that was given to her by her former husband, Kanye West, who is also known as Ye.
Kardashian continued, ‘I was still in such shock, because honestly a lot of terrorist attacks were happening in the world, and I thought it was some sort of terrorist attack, and I didn’t immediately understand it was for my jewellery.’
She further explained her fear for her children, fearing she would “not make it home to my babies.” She also feared that she was going to be raped.
Escape
After the robbers left, Kardashian was able to free herself and seek help. She contacted her sister and stylist, eventually hiding on a balcony in the bushes. Kardashian then called her mother to inform her of the situation.
The Suspects
French prosecutors state that the group tracked Kardashian’s movements via social media. At the time of the crime, the robbers were reported to be older males in their 60s and 70s.
Yunice Abbas, one of the suspects, told French media that they were unaware of Kardashian’s identity and primarily targeted her diamond jewelry.
Twelve suspects were originally charged. One has passed away and another was excused due to illness.
There is no chance of a guilty plea in such cases and Abbas is standing trial despite admitting to playing a role in the robbery.
Trial Developments
Frank Berton, the lawyer for Aomar Ait Khedache, expressed hope that Kardashian’s celebrity status would not influence the trial’s outcome.
Khedache is being accused of being the gang’s ringleader. He denies these charges.
Kardashian arrived in Paris on Monday, sharing a view from the plane. Jenner spent the evening at dinner with partner Corey Gamble and Michael Coste.
The suspects are accused of tying up Kardashian while stealing the jewels, including the $4 million engagement ring from her former husband.
In France, cameras are generally prohibited in courtrooms at the time of testimony. The testimony was not broadcast.
