Halle Bailey, the actress and singer, has been granted a restraining order against Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, known as DDG, a rapper, YouTube personality, former boyfriend, and father of her young child. The legal action follows allegations of domestic abuse.
Restraining Order Granted to Halle Bailey Against Rapper DDG
The star of “The Little Mermaid” asserts that she suffered repeated acts of violence from DDG, leading her to fear for her safety and the well-being of their child.
A judge in Los Angeles issued an order on Tuesday, instructing DDG to maintain a distance from Bailey and their son until a hearing scheduled for June 6.
According to Bailey, 25, Granberry has allegedly engaged in “multiple instances of physical violence” since their separation in October. Representatives for Granberry have been contacted for their response to the allegations.
Allegations of Abuse
In court documents requesting the protective order, Bailey stated, “Throughout our relationship, Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me.”
“I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse,” she added.
Bailey and Granberry, 27, were romantically involved from 2022 until the previous year.
Details of the Alleged Incidents
The actress details an incident in the documents where “things became physical” following verbal abuse from Granberry as she secured their baby in a car seat in January.
“We fought each other, wrestling and tussling,” she recounted. “At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.”
Evidence Submitted
- Bailey included photographs of her chipped tooth and bruises on her arms in her filing. These images have been published by several media outlets in the United States.
Two months after this incident, Bailey claims that Granberry entered her residence without permission and sent her a text message containing a photo of her bed, accompanied by a threatening message implying infidelity.
Subsequently, she alleges that Granberry verbally assailed her for declining to send their ill child for a visit with him. He then allegedly damaged the Ring doorbell camera on her porch upon realizing he was being recorded.
She further claims that, during a call for assistance to a relative, Granberry confiscated her phone and slammed a car door on her while she was holding the baby. Bailey has filed a police report concerning this incident.
Terms of the Restraining Order
The restraining order also mandates that Granberry refrain from possessing any weapons. The judge has the option to extend the order for up to five years during the June 6 hearing.
Bailey also requests that Granberry be prohibited from using his social media platforms to continue “bad mouthing me to his several millions of fans.”
“He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media,” she stated in the documents.
