Cassie Recounts Relationship with Diddy in Sex Trafficking Trial
During Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial, singer Cassie provided a detailed account of the commencement of her relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, including graphic descriptions of their intimate encounters. In her testimony, she outlined the power dynamics and alleged abuse she experienced, contributing to the ongoing legal proceedings and public scrutiny surrounding Diddy’s sex trafficking trial.
Cassie’s Testimony Details Early Relationship with Diddy
Cassie, 38, took the witness stand on Tuesday, May 13, to testify about her intermittent relationship with Diddy, 55, which allegedly began shortly after she turned 21.
“I remember being introduced to the concept of oral sex. He essentially taught me how,” Cassie stated, alleging that Diddy initiated their first kiss at her 21st birthday celebration, when he was her employer. (She had previously signed a contract with his Bad Boy record label.)
Shortly after the birthday celebration, Cassie began receiving invites to meetings in Diddy’s hotel suites. The vocalist remembered believing they would discuss her profession, but instead she claimed Diddy performed oral sex on her and “made me feel crazy for not reciprocating.”
Cassie’s Background and Initial Impressions
“I didn’t have the vocabulary for some of the things we talked about,” Cassie recalled, telling the court, “I was completely sexually inexperienced.”
While Cassie said she was seeing someone else when Diddy allegedly started a sexual relationship with her, she quickly fell under his influence. “I wanted to be around Sean for the same reason as everyone else at the time,” she said, describing the music magnate as “exciting” and “entertaining.”
Escalation of the Relationship and Alleged Drug Use
A few months after turning 21, Cassie stated that her relationship with Diddy intensified during a trip to Miami. She recounted day-drinking aboard a boat with Diddy and claimed he supplied her with a “blue dolphin” ecstasy pill before they engaged in sexual activity for the first time.
“I had become one of his girlfriends after that trip,” she said, revealing that it was her “first adult relationship.”
Complexities and Dynamics of the Relationship
Cassie mentioned the relationship felt “monogamous” to her, but she later came to understand she was one of several women in Diddy’s life. “I think I was just captivated by him,” she said of the initial stages with Diddy. “We were just having a good time.”
Cassie encountered Diddy when she was 19 around 2005 and soon after secured a 10-album record deal with his label. They officially started dating in 2007 and were on and off until 2018.
Cassie recollected some positive moments with Diddy at the start of their relationship, but she also described his alleged unpredictable conduct over the years. She asserted on Tuesday that if she made “the wrong face” at Diddy, she would get “hit in the face” and be labeled a “brat.”
During her testimony, Cassie also detailed physical abuse she allegedly suffered at Diddy’s hands. She alleged she was often treated like an “escort” who was set up to “perform” for Diddy at one of his “freak offs.”
She alleged that Diddy videotaped her during sexual encounters, which she believed he would later use as blackmail. Despite feeling “nervousness” over the freak offs, she said she engaged in them because she “loved him very much.”
Following their separation, Cassie initiated legal action against Diddy in November 2023, accusing him of repeated physical abuse and sexual assault throughout their relationship.
Legal Repercussions and Diddy’s Response
Diddy refuted the accusations, with his lawyer telling Us Weekly in a statement, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations.” The rapper and Cassie resolved the case out of court one day after the lawsuit was filed.
In May 2024, Cassie found herself back in the spotlight after CNN released security camera footage from a hotel depicting Diddy kicking and grabbing her in 2016. Diddy later issued an apology for his actions in a video shared via Instagram.
Cassie’s case was seemingly the catalyst for the downfall of Diddy, who was arrested in September 2024 and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has refuted all allegations against him related to the Diddy sex trafficking trial.
Ongoing Trial and Defense
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said in a statement after the arrest. “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Diddy has remained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest and has been denied bail four times. His trial began last week with jury selection and is expected to continue through early July.
