**Sean Combs Declines Prosecution’s Proposition Ahead of Trial**
Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs officially turned down a proposal from federal prosecutors during a court proceeding on Thursday, setting the stage for his trial, which is set to commence next week.
At a New York court, presided over by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs confirmed he had spurned the offer.
Dressed in olive-colored attire over a white thermal shirt, Combs, carrying a black binder filled with documents, greeted his allies in the gallery and embraced his legal representatives before taking his seat in the courtroom.
Combs maintains his innocence against the allegations of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution leveled against him. His legal team, headed by Marc Agnifilo.
The last pre-trial hearing was held. Subramanian disclosed that the jury selection process, also known as voir dire, would be conducted to safeguard the privacy of potential jurors, which might include revealing experiences with sexual or domestic violence.
Jury Selection Process
Subramanian aims to empanel a jury of 12 members and six alternates within three days. The Court will summon 50 prospective jurors daily to the Manhattan courtroom on the 26th floor. Each juror will either be disqualified or asked to return to the main courtroom for further questioning.
Amongst the potential jurors, 45 will be shortlisted, and each will be interviewed individually with two attorneys from either side present. The court had initially requested 600 potential jurors.
If prospective jurors wish to converse privately, they will be ushered into the judge’s chambers, where media personnel will be excluded. The transcript for those segments will be sealed.
Agnifilo had previously voiced concerns that the media’s involvement could hinder potential jurors from speaking openly.
Given the widespread attention the trial has garnered, Agnifilo requested an additional query in the juror questionnaire, which had already been distributed to potential jurors. Subramanian approved the proposal.
The Art of Representation
Asst. Nathaniel Persinger, stated prosecutors were interested in identifying new legal representatives on the defense team.
The Gearing-Up for the Trial
At a prior hearing, a prosecutor had revealed that Combs was offered a plea deal, although the specifics had not been made public.
Subramanian urged all parties to be in his courtroom by 8 a.m. on Monday, cautioning against making public statements that could prejudice the trial’s outcome.
The court had filed this week, requesting Subramanian to prohibit attorneys representing witnesses from making public statements regarding the trial until its conclusion.

Combs’ attorney Teny Geragos, had mentioned during Thursday’s hearing that Bloom had recently appeared on the BBC to enhance her client’s credibility. Bloom disclosed to the BBC that her client was “terrified”.
Bloom is a lawyer for John Doe and Dawn Richard, who was a member of previous musical groups established by Combs.
The same day, Bloom argued, “How hypocritical that Mr. Combs and his lawyers, after making numerous public statements, now want to silence me. Claimants and their attorneys possess the right to voice their opinions. I’m proud to advocate for my courageous clients, Dawn Richard, and John Doe, in their legal battle against Mr. Combs.
“I eagerly anticipate attending Mr. Combs’ forthcoming criminal trial in New York and continuing to champion my clients in accordance with the law and ethical guidelines.”
What the Richards Alleged in Her Filing
Richard had accused Combs of physical and emotional abuse in her lawsuit last year and stated that she had witnessed him assault his former long-term girlfriend Casandra Ventura.
The legal action brought by Richard is among the dozens filed by individuals who have accused Combs of sexual misconduct, allegations he vehemently denies.
Ventura’s Expensive Lawsuit and Settlement
Wigdor represents Ventura, whose explosive lawsuit, filed in November 2023, preceded the federal’s raids on Combs’ home in March 2024 and his subsequent criminal charges. Ventura alleged that Combs compelled her to engage in sexual acts with male sex workers, encounters he allegedly called “freak offs,” while he masturbated and documented them.
Ventura and Combs settled the lawsuit within 24 hours without disclosing the terms and with Combs denying any wrongdoing.
Wigdor vowed to contest Combs’ attempts to silence him from speaking publicly about the case.
βWe will vigorously oppose the motion seeking an extraordinary sweeping gag order as it is an obvious attempt at controlling and silencing victims and their counsel in contravention of well-established legal and ethical precedent,” Wigdor said.
Combs faces accusations in his five-count indictment of coercing and threatening women to partake in sexual activities and suppressing them through extortion and brute force. Prosecutors allege he had assistance from a network of allies and subordinates.
