Celebrities Nick Viall and Bill Belichick are each in notable age-difference romances. However, the former Bachelor notes the stark contrasts between their relationships.
Nick Viall and Natalie Joy: An 18-year Age Gap
The former reality TV star, 44, shared his insights on his “The Viall Files” podcast, released on May 1. He reflected on what courting his spouse, Natalie Joy, 26, might have been like with their generation gap. “It’s akin to observing a less extreme version of what dating someone with a significant age difference could entail,” he remarked.
Viall and Joy began their journey in 2019 when she reached out via direct messages on social media, spanning 18 years between them. Their union turned into marriage in April 2024, shortly after the birth of daughter River Rose.
The Couple’s Reflections on their Age Difference
The TV personality hypothesized that his now-wife might have initially viewed him as intimidating due to their distinct maturity levels. Conversely, he admitted to harboring fears of losing control in the relationship. “I suppose she may have thought I was menacing and she wasn’t entirely certain,” he posited.
Nick Viall blogged about relationship challenges, a later TV interview revealed the couple’s perspective on their love story.
Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson: A 49-year Age Difference
Viall’s remarks came shortly after Belichick, 73, and his partner Jordon Hudson, 24, addressed criticisms surrounding their age disparity. The power couple, who unite a substantial 49-year age difference, has been together since 2021 after a chance encounter on an airplane.
Defending Their Relationship
During an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, Hudson intervened when Belichick was queried about how they met. “We’re not discussing that,” she interjected, steering the conversation back to Belichick’s book, The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football.
Belichick’s team publicly criticized the interview, claiming it deviated from agreed topics. The football coach’s publicist highlighted the unexpected direction, expressing displeasure with the interview’s focus.
“I consented to promote my new book and expected the conversation to revolve solely around it,” Belichick stated on April 30. “Unfortunately, unrelated subjects were introduced, and I repeatedly requested to keep the discussion centered on the book.”
Hudson, meanwhile, clarified her involvement, asserting she was merely ensuring the interview stayed on course. “My interjection was not to evade any specific question but to guide the discussion back to the intended topic,” she explained.
Dispute Over Interview Conditions
CBS News disputed claims of imposed conditions, maintaining that the interview was intended to be comprehensive. “There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation,” a spokesperson affirmed.
Nick Viall’s Perspective on Belichick’s Relationship
During a podcast discussion, Viall pondered Hudson’s active role in the interview. “Defenders of Belichick argue that [Hudson] is simply playing the part of his publicist,” he observed. “However, why is your girlfriend assuming that role?” he questioned.
The podcast hosts also entertained the idea that Hudson’s actions might indicate a different motivation. Viall jokingly suggested that Belichick may not be fazed by public opinion. “He’s renowned for his indifference,” Viall quipped.
Viall further questioned the couple’s approach to public scrutiny. “Even with our modest age gap, we face criticism. Why insist on having your partner constantly by your side, mirroring your actions, and essentially working for you?” he queried.
