Claude’s Research Feature Can Now Spend 45 Minutes Looking for Answers

Importance Score: 45 / 100 🔵

Anthropic’s Claude generative artificial intelligence model now offers extended time for investigating responses to user inquiries, contingent on selecting the appropriate subscription package.

Seamless Application Integration and Expansive Access

Claude is capable of merging with various applications, such as PayPal, Cloudflare, Jira, and Confluence, with additional integrations anticipated shortly, as per Anthropic’s announcement on May 1. Furthermore, Anthropic has broadened web search capabilities to encompass all premium plans.

The Competitive Landscape of AI Research Tools

This year, the AI sector is fiercely competing to develop innovative and practical features, with a significant emphasis on research. Google’s Gemini presents a feature named Deep Research, accessible to all users without charge. Conversely, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Deep Research mode is exclusive to subscribers of their paid plans.

These enhanced research utilities can scour the web to assemble more thorough responses to user queries. The AI models frequently reference the information sources, although users should independently verify the data due to the possibility of inaccuracies, commonly known as hallucinations.

Ensuring Information Accuracy

Irrespective of the AI tool employed, “the critical aspect is to verify the sources. Occasionally, the AI may fabricate sources as well,” stated Alex Mahadevan, director of the MediaWise media literacy initiative at the Poynter Institute.

Claude’s Enhanced Research Functionality

Anthropic’s refined research feature can dedicate between 5 to 45 minutes to locating and examining sources. These sources may originate from internal elements, such as personal documents or connected applications, or external sources identified on the web. The model dissects requests into smaller components, addresses each separately, and subsequently compiles a comprehensive report.

Availability Across Subscription Plans

The advanced research functionality is currently in beta testing for Anthropic’s Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. The Max plan commences at $100 per month. Anthropic has indicated that this feature will soon be accessible on the more cost-effective Pro plan, which starts at $17 per month, depending on payment preferences.
