To amplify user interaction and deter departures to platforms like YouTube or Vimeo for superior video viewing, X has initiated a program allowing a select group of content creators to upload videos in stunning 4K resolution. According to an announcement from X’s engineering division, this feature will soon be accessible to all premium subscribers.
X Enhances Video Capabilities with 4K Uploads
Previously, paying subscribers enjoyed the ability to upload videos in 1080p resolution, with files reaching up to 8GB and approximately three hours in duration, as detailed on X’s support page. The introduction of 4K resolution uploads suggests a forthcoming adjustment to the size restrictions for subscribers.
Driving Engagement Through Enhanced Video Features
Since its acquisition by Elon Musk, X has actively sought to incentivize users to share more video content. This initiative includes progressively raising the upload limits for subscribers.
Vertical Video Feed
Earlier this year, X also launched a specialized feed dedicated to vertical videos. Complete with a convenient shortcut on the homepage of its mobile applications, this move aims to leverage the uncertainty surrounding potential TikTok restrictions in the United States. This is another move to boost premium subscribers.
Future of Video on X
- 4K resolution is now available for select creators.
- Expansion to all premium subscribers is coming soon.
- Higher upload limits may accompany new resolution support.
