“As I lay on the snow, my heartbeat bounced to a halt, and right there, on that New Year’s Day, unawares to my daughter, sisters, friends, father, and mother, I simply grew fatigued,” the Hawkeye star wrote in an excerpt from the book. “After approximately 30 minutes of manually respirating for so long, akin to executing 10 or 20 push-ups per minute for half an hour… that’s when I passed away. I died, right there on the path to my home.”
Although the actuality of Renner’s fatality remains indeterminate, he staunchly affirms his account within the book.
“I am confident I perished—indeed, certain of it,” the actor elaborated. “Upon the arrival of the emergency medical technicians, they observed my heart rate dipped to 18 beats per minute. With such a low rate, one is essentially lifeless.”

Despite the alarming occurrence, Renner described an invigorating tranquility during his near-lethal experience.
“When I perished, what I sensed was vitality, a perpetually linked, wondrous, and fantastic energy,” Renner added. “There was neither time, place, nor space, and nothing to observe, save for a sort of electrifying, bidirectional sight crafted from filaments of that inconceivable energy. I was within the cosmos: no sound, no gale, merely this extraordinary electricity through which I am linked to all and everything, anyone.
