Early Days on the Cobbles

Lowrie was only 24 years old when he first joined Coronation Street in 1960, remaining on the ITV series until 1968, portraying Elsie Tanner’s son. A Passion for Acting

The actor expressed his enthusiasm for continuing his work later in life, telling Inside Soap in 2011: “I do hope [I can stay in Corrie], I’m having the best time of my life. I live in London, but now I work here in Manchester for a few days a week, so I have the best of both worlds.”

“At my time of life, to have a job that I love so much and getting to play such an amazing part, is fantastic. I can’t believe my luck, to be quite frank with you.”
