Advice from “Vanderpump Rules” Veterans for the New SUR Cast
Raise a glass and pay attention! As a new era of servers prepares to take the stage, two iconic figures from “Vanderpump Rules” are offering their insights. Stassi Schroeder, who graced the reality show for eight seasons of “Vanderpump Rules” before her departure five years ago, and Lisa Vanderpump, the matriarch of the Vanderpump restaurants empire, share invaluable advice for the incoming cast of SURvers.
“VPR” documented the lives and dramas of the employees at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR Restaurant and Lounge in West Hollywood throughout its 11 seasons (2013-2024). As Season 12 approaches, it will showcase a fresh ensemble of personalities.
Words of Wisdom from Stassi Schroeder and Lisa Vanderpump
“I wish I could gather them all right now,” Schroeder, 36, shared exclusively with The Post. Vanderpump, 64, humorously interjected, “I’m so glad you can’t!” Their banter underscored a mix of playful caution and genuine guidance.
Vanderpump’s Practical Tips
- “Don’t drink in the bathroom,” Vanderpump advised.
- “Don’t cry on the floor.”
Schroeder’s Authenticity Plea
“I’m saying, don’t try to be anything other than yourself,” Schroeder emphasized. “Lean into yourself. When you try and emulate anyone else or act a certain way, people see right through that. Friends, customers—everyone sees through it, so just be yourself.”
Vanderpump jokingly countered, “No, don’t be yourself! Be differential to the customer, provide the service, and behave yourself. How about that?”
The restaurateur then added, “When someone is serving you, you just want your water, your bread, and then your alcohol without anything else.”
Despite their differing approaches, both agreed on one crucial element.
“I think authenticity is absolutely what Stassi is trying to say. Be authentic, then you get the job done in terms of reality television,” Vanderpump reflected.
The former cast of “Vanderpump Rules” has moved on to new endeavors, but fans are still able to watch Vanderpump’s new show.
“Vanderpump Villa” Season 2: A Fairytale Escape
While viewers eagerly await the new faces on “Vanderpump Rules,” Vanderpump and Schroeder have partnered for Season 2 of “Vanderpump Villa” on Hulu. The show follows Vanderpump’s staff as they cater to guests at Castello Rosato, a stunning 12th-century castle in Italy.
Schroeder joins as the summer’s VIP guest, accompanied by her husband, Beau Clark, and their children, Hartford (4) and Messer (1). She described the experience as “a trip out of a fairytale.”
“I think just every single day [was a favorite memory],” Schroeder reminisced. “I got to wake up with my kids and walk around the medieval castle and play music. There was a tower right outside our villa.”
Vanderpump reminisced, “Hartford would come and show me her outfit of the day.”
“That experience doesn’t happen to most people,” Schroeder noted.
“I think that’s one of the most important factors of the show,” Vanderpump said, explaining the show’s appeal. “It’s not just a reality show. Of course, it’s very funny and playful and sexy and everybody kind of gets intertwined. But it’s also the visuals and when you turn it on you feel like, ‘Ahh, this is just [beautiful.]’ And for me, a designer, to have the luxury to create this beauty, it’s a very important part of the show.”
Taglines and Marital Realities
Vanderpump, a veteran of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, playfully crafted a tagline for herself, “You may think you’re royalty but I’ll always be the queen!”
Schroeder quipped that her own tagline would revolve around “living like royalty but also living off of Aperol Spritzes and snooping.”
Viewers get a peek into a disagreement between Schroeder and Clark. “I’ve been trying to figure out what ignites the dark passenger and I feel like it’s just a lot of things,” she confessed. “It was [my] birthday. I had my friends and family come. To feel the pressure of wanting everyone to have the best time ever, I was drinking Aperol Spritzes all day long. I was bound to yell at someone.”
Vanderpump, who has been married to Ken Todd for 42 years, sees such moments as part of a real relationship. “If you don’t see that then I don’t believe it. I think half the reality shows, you see people saying, ‘Oh my love’ and this and that and then suddenly they are getting divorced.”
“That’s real life. That’s marriage. It’s push and pull, push and pull,” reiterated Vanderpump.
“We’ve been together eight years. That’s wild,” Schroeder added.
“Eight years? You’re on your honeymoon for God’s sake. I’ve done 42 years with Ken,” Vanderpump noted. “Tell me when you’ve done 42 — if I’m still alive!”
All 10 episodes of “Vanderpump Villa” are now available on Hulu.
