“I have received an ALS diagnosis,” the statement confirmed. “I am thankful for the support of my loving family as we navigate this new chapter.”
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is defined by the Mayo Clinic as a progressive nervous system illness that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This condition leads to the loss of muscle control and, currently, has no known cure.
Production Timeline for ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
Euphoria has been on hiatus since season two concluded in February 2022. While HBO renewed the popular drama for a third season that same month, a premiere date has not yet been announced.
Initial projections had suggested the show might return in late 2023 or early 2024. However, production experienced significant delays due to the dual WGA and SAG strikes, along with the passing of cast member Angus Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen, and various actors pursuing other projects. These factors caused some fan apprehension regarding the season’s eventual production.
“HBO and Erin Doyle Sam Levinson remain dedicated to delivering an exceptional third season,” a network spokesperson assured Us Weekly in March 2024. “In the meantime, we are accommodating our in-demand cast by allowing them to pursue other opportunities.”
Anticipated Premiere and Dane’s Character Reflection
Despite earlier concerns, production for Euphoria season three is now underway, with the new season tentatively scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Dane has previously spoken about his character, Cal Jacobs, and identified with some of the internal conflicts the character experiences on screen.
“Cal leads a double life, maintaining a facade of outward control and perfection, while internally battling immense turmoil,” Dane shared with The Hollywood Reporter in June 2022. “I have faced personal struggles in the past that drew me to a life of secrecy, which I fully embraced. While the specific circumstances may differ, the underlying emotions are certainly relatable.”
