Teddi Mellencamp Discusses Father John Mellencamp’s Mausoleum Plans Amid Cancer Battle

Reality television personality Teddi Mellencamp, currently undergoing treatment for stage 4 cancer, recently disclosed that her father, acclaimed musician John Mellencamp, is already making arrangements for her final resting place within the family mausoleum located in Indiana. The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star shared details of this somber conversation, highlighting her father’s proactive approach to end-of-life planning even as she bravely confronts her health challenges.

Morbid Phone Call During Bath Time

On Tuesday’s episode of her podcast, “Two Ts in a Pod,” Mellencamp recounted the unsettling experience of receiving multiple calls from the rocker to discuss these sensitive matters. She described initially ignoring the persistent calls. “Finally, I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little,’” she stated, before learning the reason for her father’s urgency.

Teddi Mellencamp revealed her father, John Mellencamp, is already planning where she’s laid to rest.
During Tuesday’s episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast, the reality star recalled her father repeatedly calling her on the phone.

Family Mausoleum Space and Future Generations

The 43-year-old personality then inquired about burial space for her three children – Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5 – within the family mausoleum. She explained her father’s detailed plan for the mausoleum’s capacity. “He’s like, ‘Well, there’s going to be the top five and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried,’” Mellencamp explained, detailing the rocker’s vision for the family’s final resting place.

Incorporating Burial Plans into Will

John Mellencamp further advised his daughter to include these burial arrangements in her updated will. “He goes, ‘You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there,'” she quoted her father as saying, emphasizing the practical nature of his approach to estate planning amid her health situation.

“Finally, I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little,’” she said.
“He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum,” Teddi continued.

Acceptance and Dark Humor

Teddi Mellencamp informed her podcast co-host, Tamra Judge, that she agreed to her father’s wishes and plans to visit the Indiana mausoleum site. Demonstrating a sense of dark humor, she quipped about the epitaph she would choose for her tombstone: “Hot girls never die.”

Personal Life Amidst Health Challenges

Mellencamp’s personal life has also been in flux; she shares her three children with Edwin Arroyave, from whom she separated in October 2024 after nearly 14 years of marriage.

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum shared that her dad explained where she and her three kids would be buried.
John told Teddi to put the plans into her will.

Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment

Teddi Mellencamp’s health journey began in 2022 with a skin cancer diagnosis. Earlier this year, in February, medical professionals discovered brain tumors. She underwent immediate surgery to remove four tumors, which doctors assessed had been developing for at least half a year. “These are all a direct result of my melanoma,” she conveyed in a March Instagram post, linking her brain tumors to her previous skin cancer.

Their family’s mausoleum is in Indiana.
Doctors found several tumors in Teddi’s brain in February.

Ongoing Cancer Battle

Subsequent medical evaluations have revealed further tumors in her brain and lungs, indicating the advanced stage of her cancer. In a recent interview, Mellencamp expressed her resolve, stating, “I’m fighting for my life, but also for my family’s life and all the people I love.” She described her cancer battle as “definitely the hardest thing” she has ever encountered, underscoring the profound impact of her diagnosis.
