Ovechkin Achieves NHL Scoring Milestone, Celebrated in NHL 25

This landmark achievement sees him surpass the legendary Wayne Gretzky on the NHL’s all-time goal-scoring list. In recognition of this momentous occasion, EA Sports has released a celebratory video and in-game rewards for NHL 25, allowing players to partake in the festivities.

In-Game Celebrations in Hockey Ultimate Team

  • Commemorative “895” Jersey: Added to World of Chel and available to all players.

Ovechkin’s History with EA Sports NHL Games

Alexander Ovechkin’s association with EA Sports’ NHL franchise dates back to 2006 with NHL 07, where he graced the cover as the featured athlete. He has since been included in every subsequent game in the series and returned as the cover athlete for NHL 21 and NHL 94 Rewind. This distinction places him among a select group of only three players to have been featured on the cover of EA Sports’ NHL games multiple times. Notably, he also appeared on the cover of NHL 2K10 in the now-discontinued NHL 2K series.

Ovechkin’s Illustrious NHL Career

Drafted first overall by the Washington Capitals in 2004, Alexander Ovechkin’s NHL debut was delayed until 2005 due to the 2004-2005 NHL lockout. Since entering the league, Ovechkin has achieved numerous accolades, including 13 All-Star team selections. He was recognized as an All-Decade First-Team member for both the 2000s and 2010s. His individual awards include the Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the Year) in 2006 and three Hart Memorial Trophies (Most Valuable Player). A pinnacle of his career arrived in 2018 when he captained the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup victory, also earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

NHL 25 Availability

NHL 25 was officially launched on October 4, 2024, and is currently available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
