Sci-Fi Shooter La Quimera Announces April Release Date and Closed Beta

The upcoming sci-fi shooter, La Quimera, set in a fictional Latin American megalopolis and unveiled recently by Reburn, is set to launch sooner than expected. The studio officially stated today that La Quimera, their debut title under the new company name, will be released on April 25th. Prior to the launch, a one-day closed beta test will be conducted on April 12th, offering an early glimpse into the game.

Gameplay Trailer Showcases Crysis-esque Exosuit Action

Reburn also released a new gameplay trailer for La Quimera, providing an extensive look at in-game action. The trailer evokes a Crysis-like feel, particularly due to the prominent exosuit featured. While the exosuit’s silence during maximum engagement might be perceived as slightly underwhelming by some, it could be a deliberate choice to avoid direct parallels with Crytek’s influential work.

Reburn and La Quimera: An Unconventional Studio Restructuring

The narrative surrounding Reburn and La Quimera presents a unique situation. In February, it was revealed that 4A Games, known for the acclaimed Metro series and operating studios in Ukraine and Malta, was in fact comprised of two distinct entities. 4A Games Ukraine rebranded itself as Reburn, focusing its efforts on La Quimera, while 4A Malta continues the development of the Metro franchise.

Further Studio Developments in Kyiv

Adding to the complexity, 4A Malta established a new studio in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, recruiting approximately 50 individuals from the original 4A Ukraine team. This intricate restructuring has led to the formation of Reburn and the continuation of 4A Malta, both with ties to the original 4A Games.

La Quimera: Solo and Co-op Gameplay in Nuevo Caracas

Returning to La Quimera, this title will feature both single-player and cooperative modes for up to three players. The game centers on an unfortunate PMC group embroiled in a large-scale conflict between competing factions and secretive organizations. The setting is Nuevo Caracas, a fictional metropolis where supernatural occurrences increasingly obscure the distinction between reality and illusion. Players will utilize exosuits in combat, providing access to advanced technology and enhanced strength.

Closed Beta Access on Steam

For those interested in an early hands-on experience with La Quimera, the closed beta will commence at 7 am PT/10 am ET on April 12th and will last for 24 hours. Reburn has indicated that beta access will be limited, but specific details remain unconfirmed. Interested players are encouraged to visit the Steam page and click the registration button for a chance to participate.
