Joe Rogan has commented on the escalating legal dispute involving It Ends With Us actors Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. The controversy centers around allegations of on-set misconduct and subsequent lawsuits.
Rogan Weighs In on Hollywood Legal Feud
On a recent episode of his widely listened to “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Rogan, 57, shared his perspective on the contentious situation between Lively, 37, and her spouse, Ryan Reynolds.
“They messed up,” Rogan remarked, suggesting Lively and Reynolds are facing complications. “Ryan is reportedly attempting to withdraw from the legal action, but is being told he is a crucial figure in the case.”
The Genesis of the Legal Actions
The public learned in December 2024 that Lively had initiated legal proceedings against Baldoni, 41, accusing him of sexual harassment and defamation of character. Baldoni refuted these accusations and responded with a counter-lawsuit, targeting Lively, Reynolds, 48, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane, seeking $400 million in damages. Court documents reviewed by Us magazine reveal that both Lively and Reynolds have requested the dismissal of Baldoni’s suit, firmly denying his claims.
Baldoni’s Lawsuit Against The New York Times
Adding another layer to the complex legal web, Baldoni also launched a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times for their reporting on Lively’s initial allegations. The New York Times has moved to dismiss this lawsuit. Judge Lewis J. Liman recently granted the newspaper’s request to temporarily halt proceedings while considering their motion to dismiss. Baldoni has asserted in filings that the matter should ultimately be decided by a “jury.”
Podcast Host Criticizes Lively and Reynolds
Reflecting on the ongoing legal back-and-forth, Rogan described the situation as “crazy.” He alleged that Lively and Reynolds were attempting to exert undue influence over the film and its potential sequels. It Ends With Us, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s popular novel, premiered in August 2024.
“He has a strong case against The New York Times as well,” Rogan stated, referring to Baldoni. “Especially for someone known for being genuinely kind, for him to take such action indicates a serious situation.”
Controversy Over Trailer Incident
Rogan also addressed Lively’s claim regarding an incident where Baldoni allegedly entered her makeup trailer while she was partially undressed, including during breastfeeding. Conversely, Baldoni presented purported text exchanges suggesting Lively had invited him into her trailer. One message allegedly from Lively reads, “I’m just pumping in my trailer if you want to go over our lines.” (Lively and Reynolds married in 2012 and have four children).
