Steppin aims to limit device usage and encourage physical activity by temporarily blocking user-selected websites or applications. Access is restored only after the user has accumulated a predetermined number of steps. Available without cost on both the App Store and Google Play, “the app functions smoothly with the iPhone’s integrated step tracking and also works with various fitness trackers through Apple Health,” English stated. According to English, Steppin is compatible with all social media applications. Users can select the specific apps they wish to restrict after the initial account setup.

“Initially, users set the desired time limit for each session when accessing a restricted application, be it social media or any other,” English clarified.

“When that allocated time expires, a block screen appears, requiring a conscious decision to allocate more time,” he continued.

“If all available time has been exhausted, the block screen will persist until the user has walked sufficiently to earn additional screen time.”
