“Strictly Come Dancing” host Fleur East has discussed the distinctive guidance shared by Rylan Clark when he withdrew from presenting it’s companion program It Takes Two.
The renowned It Takes Two presenter—who is scheduled to co-host the National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Spectacular at the OVO Wembley Arena—competed in the BBC ballroom series back in 2022 alongside her partner Vito Coppola.
In 2023, she went on to participate in the nationwide tour of the BBC ballroom competition and became a proud parent to her first child, Nova, a year later.
This year, the new mother took over as co-host on the BBC spin-off show after Rylan stepped back from the program after four successful years.
Empathetic Expertise
Now, in an exclusive conversation with Express.co.uk, the charming brunette has revealed the insightful counsel the former “Big Brother” presenter offered her before assuming hosting duties.
She shared: “He advised, ‘Simply embrace the unique situation you’re in since one advantage for you is that you’ve been on the show, so immediately you can relate to every celebrity who will sit on that sofa and chat with you.’
“And I thought that was a valid point he raised with me because, in my mind, I was thinking, ‘Okay, I’m doing this as a host so I need to fill his shoes in that sense.’
“But when he presented that perspective, I thought, ‘Yeah, that makes sense.’ Because now when I sit on that sofa, I instantly understand precisely what the celebrities will be experiencing based on the dance they have and the week it is.
Relating to Celebrity Dancers
She continued, sharing how she supported this year’s finalists as they prepared their concluding performances.
East elaborated: “For instance, when it was leading up to the final, I remember what it was like being a celebrity in the competition and having to master three dances.
“Even the small details like hearing the video just before you perform and feeling emotional—they all become part of the journey,” she said. “It’s been wonderful to be able to advise them as well as converse and genuinely connect with them.
Behind-the-Scenes Insights
The radio presenter of The Hits divulged some of the show’s best-kept secrets. East disclosed that the panel of judges observe the contestants’ performances during the dress rehearsals hours before they compete on the live show.
The Magic of Preparation
She clarified: “I believe they view the dress run on that day, but that’s the sole preview they receive before the live broadcast. ”The former “X Factor” contestant reflected on what it was like to follow the show as a presenter as opposed to being a participant.
She elaborated: “I do miss the performing aspect—was an investigation on dancing in the ballroom on a Saturday evening.” She mentioned. I missed that part of being in the competition.
“But I cherish the opportunity to now observe everything unfold and see the enchantment come to life. My favorite part is witnessing all the rehearsal and training footage before the live show.
“We get to experience everything before the live show on Saturday, prior to anyone else seeing it. And as a passionate follower of the show, it’s simply exhilarating.”
The National Lottery’s Celebration
Fleur East is preparing to co-host the New Year’s Eve gala alongside her fellow presenter Vernon Kay. Viewers can expect performances from artists including Craig David, Perrie Edwards, Ella Henderson, and Olly Alexander, among others.
The Positive Impact of the Event
Regarding the National Lottery’s spectaculur 2023 event East shared enthusiastic reflections on the praiseworthy achievements accomplished throughout the year.
“What was especially meaningful to observe was the incredible moments we relished throughout the year and honor the individuals who have contributed remarkably to their communities.
“The spectacle incorporates not only a grand celebration for New Year’s Eve but also a closer look at distinguished organizations and their exceptional work made possible by National Lottery funding. Therefore, as it invites us attendees to allocate National Lottery funds to support such notable endeavors, an abiding enthusiasm for the show, it’s indeed refreshing.”
