Frustrated Liverpool owners jet to UK for frosty showdown with Chelsea counterparts

Both teams will have a new look after dismal 2022-23 campaigns. Liverpool, who finished fifth last term, have lost the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have been added to Klopp’s squad amid a midfield rebuild that Liverpool hope will still include Caicedo. Meanwhile, Chelsea have overseen a major overhaul under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Six new signings have cost the Blues close to £200m. However, new forward Christopher Nkunku is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury in pre-season.
