Emmerdale viewers are set to bid farewell to a beloved family on the ITV soap as they are desperate to remain as a unit.
Despite Dan Spencer’s (played by Liam Fox) best efforts to plan for his daughter Amelia Spencer’s (Daisy Campbell) future, she is convinced they should go on the run.
He initially protests her plan but she is insistent they can escape to Ireland in a bid to remain as a family.
Amelia continues panicking at the thought of her father going to prison and almost accidentally hurts baby Esther.
Dan manages to fix the situation and he comes around to the idea of running away as he can see she’s terrified about him being put behind bars.
The following day, Dan corners his colleague Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and asks him to help his family flee England.
Cain agrees and soon Dan confirms their escape plan will go ahead to Amelia – however, she cannot tell another soul.
Amelia’s scared, but is determined to stick with Dan ahead of Cain giving them ferry tickets, an old car and a burner phone for their exit.
They share a sad smile about leaving Emmerdale as they set off as a trio – but have they made the right decision?
Should Dan face the consequences for his one-punch misdemeanour?
Emmerdale viewers will recall Dan punched Amelia’s stalker, Lloyd Sawyer (Matt Sutton) during an altercation earlier this summer which has left him fighting for his life in the hospital.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media about the upcoming storyline, Liam shared: “He doesn’t initially want to do it, he doesn’t think it’s a good idea at all after discussing it with Amelia.
“He just thinks there is no way out of this, he can’t stand the thought of being without his daughter and his granddaughter, he realises he is not going to be suited to prison life at all. So the only option seems to be that he is going to go on the run.”
Amelia actress Daisy added: “I think she [feels guilty]. Obviously, she would never have expected anything like this to happen, especially to Dan as it’s so out of his nature.
“I think Amelia finally found something she enjoyed which she could get money from to help her dad and get nice food for the week.
“I think it was a relief for her but something so innocent turned into something so dangerous as well.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
