Phillip Schofield ‘no longer speaks’ to Holly as he shares real reason behind feud

Phillip Schofield emotionally apologised to Holly Willoughby admitting in a new interview the pair no longer speak.

In an interview with The Sun, Phillip opened up about his “feud” with Holly after “letting her down”.

The This Morning host’s admission came after he confirmed he’d lied to his bosses and his pal about having an affair with a younger male colleague.

“I’ve lost my best friend. I let her down (Holly). I let that entire show down. I let the viewers down,” Phillip shared.

“Holly did not know (about the romance). And she was one of the first texts that I sent to say, ‘I am so, so sorry that I lied to you’.”

The 61-year-old explained his former co-star never replied to his texts but insisted Holly knew nothing about the affair.

“I had no feud with Holly,” Phillip continued. “She is my TV sister. But quite rightly, when I am in the middle of a s**t show with bad press over something where I have done nothing wrong — in fact, I did everything right — it’s a witch hunt.”

When it was reported last month that the on-screen duo was “barely speaking”, Phillip agreed this was true.

When asked whether they spoke privately about it, Phillip continued: “I utterly adore Holly but we didn’t talk about this. I love Holly and I get it. That was a shock (to read). I texted her and said, ‘Have you heard about this?’. And she said, ‘Yeah, I think the story’s been killed, I think it’s gone, it’s not going to run’. But it did, the next day.

“The last time we had a conversation was when I texted Holly and said, ‘Don’t reply,’ — this was after the statement last week (defending This Morning from accusations of toxicity) ‘Don’t reply, you’re probably not allowed to. But I am deeply, deeply sorry that I lied to you’.”

On Saturday, Holly spoke out for the first time, telling her Instagram followers she felt “hurt” by Phillip’s “lie”.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Holly wrote: “It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news.

“When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.”

She concluded: “It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly.”

ITV has also denied knowing anything about Phillip’s affair, a spokesperson told “Further to our statement last night, ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.

“Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip’s then agency YMU.

“In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.

“Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship.”
