Miley Cyrus breaks down 17 favorite looks – from the 'teddy bear' costume to her gold Flowers dress

Miley Cyrus sat down with British Vogue for their Life in Looks segment on Thursday and went through 17 favorite fashion moments from her career.

The 30-year-old pop superstar – who discussed her ‘interesting’ love life with the publication – took a trip down memory lane that went from her sweet Hannah Montana days to her jaw-dropping Bangerz reinvention.

Miley’s top fashion moments included the infamous ‘teddy bear’ costume that she wore for a jaw-dropping VMAs performance back in 2013 and the golden revenge dress that gilded her music video for Flowers this year.

While discussing her sexy VMAs look, Cyrus cheekily called out the initial backlash she received: ‘This teddy bear costume, which was extremely controversial and made a lot of people angry. I repeat – this teddy bear costume made a lot of people angry.’

The songstress explained that her risqué outfit was inspired by a Todd James teddy bear sculpture that she ‘had fallen in love with’ because it ‘reminded me of myself.’

When it came to her jaw-dropping gold dress from Flowers, Miley focused on the design’s ‘magic’ instead of the salacious intention behind it – since the song was widely seen to be a flamethrower aimed at her ex Liam Hemsworth.

Describing the belly-baring look as ‘1991 museum-quality archival’ Yves Saint Laurent, the Wrecking Ball hitmaker told the story of how she and her team had a psychic connection when it came to selecting the stunning dress.

‘The magic of this dress is that Jacob, my director, and Bradley, my stylist, and I, we all came together and we were looking at the treatment and we’re going, “Oh, b**ch, I know what you have to wear, and I’m like, “No, b**ch, I know what I have to wear, and he’s like, “No, b**ch, I know what you have to wear,” and then we all hold up our phone and it was the same dress.’

Miley went on to praise the look, saying: ‘It wasn’t saying too much, it spoke for itself, but it also allowed me to speak. It completely captured what the song was about.’

Going back to her early days as a child star, Cyrus charted the course of her image reinvention by going from a vibrant and innocent Hannah Montana dress to a sultry tummy-flaunting vixen look.

‘I wore this because it felt like it was protective,’ said the Jaded singer, explaining the intention behind her teen queen aesthetic in 2010 as she performed in a Paris nightclub.

Cyrus said the look was a ‘complete difference from Hannah Montana’s style,’ helping the young pop star introduce ‘Miley to the world’ and break away from the constraints of child stardom.

‘I had been a character for so long, so this was the beginning of like, developing who Miley would be.’
