Man Utd news: Sheikh Jassim new bid, Garnacho social media attack, Rabiot contact

Manchester United news is coming thick and fast following their 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday. The Red Devils cruised to victory over the weekend, with Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho both on target. Express Sport now takes a look at all the latest surrounding the club, with Garnacho, Sheikh Jassim and Adrien Rabiot also featuring in our round-up.

Sheikh Jassim new bid

On Sunday, reports from the Middle East claimed Sheikh Jassim was preparing one last bid to buy Manchester United.

Saudi Sports Media journalist Nawaf said on Twitter: “Qatar is preparing to raise a final offer to buy Manchester United for about 6 billion pounds.”

Should Sheikh Jassim press ahead with those plans, it could blow the competition out of the water.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe also remains in the hunt to buy United and, according to some outlets, is the frontrunner.

But nothing has been decided yet – and that gives his rival a chance.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense

Garnacho social media attack

Garnacho’s brother has taken to social media to slam a YouTuber after United beat Wolves 2-0 on Saturday.

Earlier in the season, YouTuber Rants N Bants criticised Garnacho and branded the Argentine star as ’s***’.

And taking to social media after Garnacho scored in United’s 2-0 win over Wolves, younger brother Roberto Garnacho couldn’t resist taking a pop.

He said on Twitter: “Apologise as much as you disrespected, b******. @rantsnbants.”

Roberto then followed that up by uploading a zoomed in image of Rants N Bants and said the words ‘this he is that guy’, accompanied with crying emojis.

Rabiot contact

According to L’Equipe, United boss Erik ten Hag has been in contact with Adrien Rabiot about a move to the club this summer.

The France international’s time at Juventus is winding down and he’s yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

United previously eyed Rabiot last summer, only to end up landing Casemiro instead.

Fast-forward to now, however, and a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.

Any Rabiot signing would be controversial, however, with supporters previously making it clear they wouldn’t want him at the club when speculation first arose nearly 12 months ago.

Fernandes opens up on mentoring Garnacho

Bruno Fernandes has opened up on how he mentors Garnacho as the 18-year-old continues to grow in stature.

“What I have to say to Garnacho, I say to him at the training ground, whenever we are eating, wherever,” he said.

“If he wants to hear, he hears. If not, he doesn’t, but I try to help.

“He is training every time with us which makes him more prepared but mentally he is being much better also and I think he understood what it takes to be a professional player.

“He is taking that and he is working a lot also in the gym with the coaches so he is getting his rewards. If he was not training well he would not even be playing.”

Eriksen makes top four claim

Christian Eriksen has claimed United’s home form can help them finish in the top four this season.

“First of all we need to finish the season strong with a perfect home record but it’s definitely something that we need to do,” he said.

“In the end, of course, for next season, we need to be as good as at home, but also away. And then it’s going to be a fun season.”

He added: “We know where we can pick up extra points, because at home, at the moment we’re feeling very, very secure. But when you lose two games, the extra pressure is on.

“We’ve shown the character and the quality to be where we are. We’re just going to focus on us. For us, it has to be three wins in the last three games.”
