Papua New Guinea Foreign Minister's daughter Savannah Tkatchenko slammed for Coronation TikToks

They look like innocent TikToks where a glam lawyer does her make-up and flaunts her luxury life. There’s just one problem – and it’s made a lot of people very angry

The glamorous daughter of Papua New Guinea’s foreign minister is under fire for sharing a series of TikToks flaunting her luxurious taxpayer-funded trip to King Charles III’s Coronation.

Foreign Minister Justin Tkatchenko has been forced to defend his daughter Savannah, who lives in Queensland, after she shared clips of her travelling in first class and shopping at high-end stores in Singapore on the way to London.

Taxpayers in the impoverished country slammed the videos and questioned why their money wasn’t going towards improving the underdeveloped nation, simply funding the minister’s family trip.

Mr Tkatchenko’s daughter had gone with him to the Coronation as his wife was unable to make it.

In one video, that has since been deleted from Ms Tkatchenko’s account, the lawyer is seen visiting luxury stores such as Hermès and Louis Vuitton.

‘Those of you that know Singapore Airport shopping is honestly so elite,’ she says in the clip.

Another clip shows her showing off her luxury makeup collection.

She and her father also spent time in Singapore’s First Class lounge where they enjoyed fancy meals and Cosmopolitan cocktails.

She then filmed herself washing her face in the bathroom before enjoying a lavish breakfast on board before landing in the UK.

The law student shared another clip of her putting on her outfit for the Coronation – a white pant suit with a broach and nude heels.

That TikTok was captioned ‘GRWM (get ready with me) to attend a special occasion’.

Ms Tkatchenko has since deleted her TikTok account after uproar in PNG.

Tania Bale, a PNG social justice advocate, tweeted: ‘The audacity of it. Sickening’.

‘Plain disgusting,’ said another.

‘It’s so sad to see PNG taxpayers money wasted pandering to this,’ another wrote.

Just under 40 per cent of those living in PNG are under the poverty line, according to a report from World Bank in 2020, with nearly three million people considered poor in the country.

Minister Tkatchenko has hit back at those crucifying his daughter online, saying she didn’t actually buy anything from the shops she filmed herself visiting.

‘My daughter now is totally devastated. She is traumatised by some of the most ridiculous and useless comments that I’ve seen,’ Mr Tkatchenko told ABC’s Pacific Beat.

‘Jealousy is a curse. And, you know, these people clearly show that they have got nothing to do in their lives.’

He said those attacking her were ‘primitive animals’ who had ‘nothing better to do’.

‘We went to London, we attended all the meetings and events, and she represented her country without fear or favour to the highest degree and honour,’ he said.

He later told the Post Courier his daughter ‘did not misuse any public funds’, and said he would not resign.

Celebrating the Coronation reportedly came at a cost of the equivalent of $3million for PNG taxpayers.

Ms Tkatchenko won two bronze medals in the 2015 South Pacific Games in swimming.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Ms Tkatchenko for comment.
