Donald Trump has pledged he will “prevent World War 3” if he’s elected US president again.
The 76-year-old, who was leader of the ‘free world’ between 2017 and 2021, wants a return to The White House and boasted he is the man to end all conflicts and also ensure they never start in the first place.
Speaking to supporters at an event in Manchester, New Hampshire, Mr Trump said: “Standing before you today, I am the only candidate who can make this promise – I will prevent World War 3.”
Mr Trump also made the bold claim that he will put a stop to the war in Ukraine after he “wins next year’s election”.
His bragging came not long after current incumbent Joe Biden launched his campaign for re-election in 2024, setting the stage for a potential rematch with Mr Trump.

Mr Trump said: “In recent months, I’ve been laying out a bold, forward-looking vision for what we do when we become the 47th president of the United States.”
He paused for a few seconds as his supporters whooped and cheered.
He continued: “Before I even arrive at The Oval Office, shortly after I win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled.
“It would never have happened, that war would never have happened.”
He also claimed he used his personality while in office to prevent and finish conflicts around the world, adding: “I was the only president in decades who didn’t start a war, but everyone said ‘oh, he’s going to start a war’.
“They said I had that personality to start a war. Remember that? ‘Oh we can’t vote for him he’s going to start a war’.
“No, I used my personality so that we didn’t have to have wars.
“And I got out of wars, including knocking the hell out of ISIS, took over 100% of the ISIS caliphate.”
He spoke on the same day that his former vice president, Mike Pence, testified before a federal grand jury investigating efforts by Mr Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election. Meanwhile, writer E. Jean Carroll testified on Thursday that she was raped by Mr Trump in the 1990s, a charge he denies.
In a rallying cry to his supporters present he said: “We are a nation in serious decline, a nation that has lost its way.
“We are led by a hopeless person, but we will win in 2024 and make America great again. We can do it. It’s not too late.”
He also mocked Mr Biden, pretending to get lost on stage, while piling further scorn on his great rival, with Hillary Clinton also targeted.
“There’s going to be a major announcement, are you ready?” he asked his cheerful band of followers.
“I will be retiring the name ‘crooked’ from Hillary Clinton and I’m going to give her a new name like maybe ‘Lovely Hilary’ or ‘Beautiful Hilary’, but I am going to retire the name ‘crooked’ so we can use the name for Joe Biden because he’ll be known now on as ‘Crooked Joe Biden’.
Democrat Mr Biden had been predicted to seek a second four-year term and duly started his campaign on Tuesday (April 25).
